• Moving to Washington
Dubois was acquired by the Capitals from the Kings on Wednesday in exchange for Darcy Kuemper.

Advice: The Kings made a big bet on Dubois in the summer of 2023, trading Alex Iafallo, Gabriel Vilardi, Rasmus Kupari and a 2024 second-round pick to get him from the Jets. The move also involved signing Dubois to an eight-year, $68 million contract. The idea was that the center, who provides a strong blend of grit and skill, would make the Kings deep up the middle in the short term and perhaps even be the eventual successor to Anze Kopitar. However, Dubois went from recording at least 60 points in each of his previous two campaigns to finishing with 16 goals and 40 points across 82 regular-season contests in 2023-24. Averaging 15:42 of ice time this season, down from 18:27 in 2022-23, probably didn't help his offensive production, so perhaps the move to Washington will do him some good. Nicklas Backstrom (hip) isn't expected to play at all next season, which leaves the door open for Dubois to possibly serve as the Capitals' top-line center. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:22 pm
  • Claimed off waivers
Goodrow was claimed off waivers by the Sharks from the Rangers on Wednesday, per Chris Johnston of The Athletic.

Advice: Goodrow recorded 33 points in 2021-22 and 31 points in 2022-23, but he declined this campaign to four goals and 12 points across 80 regular-season appearances. The 31-year-old was still a physical presence, though, recording 78 PIM and 171 hits. He also stepped up in the 2024 playoffs, supplying six goals, eight points, 12 PIM, 41 hits and 29 blocks in 16 outings. He figures to serve in a third-line capacity for San Jose, which is the franchise where he made his NHL debut back in 2014. The Sharks will also be taking the final three seasons of his six-year, $21.85 million contract. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:15 am

Friedman inked a one-year, $775,000 contract with the Canucks on Wednesday.

He had an assist, 21 PIM, 33 hits and 35 blocks in 23 regular-season games with Vancouver in 2023-24. The 28-year-old blueliner might start the 2024-25 campaign as the Canucks' seventh defenseman. • Shipped to Sharks
Dellandrea was acquired by the Sharks from the Stars on Wednesday in exchange for a 2025 fourth-round pick.

Advice: Dellandrea had two goals, nine points, 23 PIM and 63 hits in 42 regular-season appearances with Dallas in 2023-24. The 23-year-old should be in the conversation for a bottom-six spot with San Jose going into training camp. However, the Sharks first need to re-sign Dellandrea, who completed his one-year, $900,000 contract and is set to become a restricted free agent in July. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:37 am

  • Gets traded
Bahl was acquired by the Flames from the Devils along with a 2025 first-round pick in exchange for Jacob Markstrom on Wednesday, per Darren Dreger of TSN.

Advice: Bahl had a goal, 11 points, 82 PIM, 151 hits and 103 blocks in 82 contests while averaging 17:24 of ice time with New Jersey in 2023-24. The 23-year-old was originally taken by Arizona with the No. 55 overall pick in the 2018 NHL Draft, but he ended up being included in the package that sent Taylor Hall to the Coyotes in 2019. Bahl might have a shot at a top-four spot in Calgary, but that is far from guaranteed. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:36 am

He also collected six goals, 22 points and 32 PIM in 43 regular-season appearances with AHL Bridgeport, though the one-way nature of this deal suggests he is likely to stick at the NHL level.
