• Moving to Washington
Dubois was acquired by the Capitals from the Kings on Wednesday in exchange for Darcy Kuemper.

Advice: The Kings made a big bet on Dubois in the summer of 2023, trading Alex Iafallo, Gabriel Vilardi, Rasmus Kupari and a 2024 second-round pick to get him from the Jets. The move also involved signing Dubois to an eight-year, $68 million contract. The idea was that the center, who provides a strong blend of grit and skill, would make the Kings deep up the middle in the short term and perhaps even be the eventual successor to Anze Kopitar. However, Dubois went from recording at least 60 points in each of his previous two campaigns to finishing with 16 goals and 40 points across 82 regular-season contests in 2023-24. Averaging 15:42 of ice time this season, down from 18:27 in 2022-23, probably didn't help his offensive production, so perhaps the move to Washington will do him some good. Nicklas Backstrom (hip) isn't expected to play at all next season, which leaves the door open for Dubois to possibly serve as the Capitals' top-line center. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:22 pm
  • Inks three-year deal
MacLean signed a three-year contract with the Islanders on Wednesday.

Advice: New York didn't release the financial details of the deal, but CapFriendly later reported that MacLean will carry a $775,000 cap hit. The 25-year-old had four goals, nine points, 11 PIM and 60 hits in 32 regular-season outings with the Islanders in 2023-24. He also collected six goals, 22 points and 32 PIM in 43 regular-season appearances with AHL Bridgeport, though the one-way nature of this deal suggests he is likely to stick at the NHL level. • Goal, assist in loss
Rodrigues scored a goal on two shots, dished an assist, added two PIM and went plus-3 in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Oilers in Game 5.

Advice: Rodrigues set up a Matthew Tkachuk tally and scored one of his own in the second period, but the Panthers weren't able to overcome their slow start in this game. With four goals and two helpers over five Stanley Cup Finals outings, Rodrigues has been a standout forward for Florida. He's at seven goals, seven helpers, 42 shots on net, 50 hits and a plus-7 rating through 22 playoff contests. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 9:22 pm

  • One of each in loss
Tkachuk scored a goal on four shots, added an assist, logged six hits and posted two PIM in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Oilers in Game 5.

Advice: Tkachuk's goal was his first since Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals. The winger had been limited to one assist over his previous six appearances. Despite the scoring slump, he's maintained a point-per-game pace with six goals and 16 helpers over 22 playoff outings. Tkachuk has added 81 shots on net, 64 hits, 27 PIM and a plus-3 rating. • Picks up assist
Foegele logged an assist in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Panthers in Game 5.

Advice: Foegele has a goal and two helpers during his three-game point streak. He was shuffled up to the top line at even strength for this contest, though he was limited to 12:59 of ice time. Foegele has just six points to go with 31 shots on net, 36 hits and a minus-6 rating over 20 playoff outings. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 9:12 pm
  • Tallies on power play
Hyman scored a goal on three shots, logged four hits, added two PIM and went plus-2 in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Panthers in Game 5.

Advice: Hyman deflected in an Evan Bouchard shot early in the second period. This was Hyman's first goal during the Stanley Cup Finals, but he's scored 15 times and added six assists over 23 playoff contests this year. The winger has added 87 shots on net, 50 hits and a plus-11 rating as a fixture on the Oilers' top line. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 9:00 pm
  • Still out Tuesday
Kane (abdomen) won't play in Tuesday's Game 5 versus the Panthers, Derek Van Diest of NHL.com reports.

Advice: Kane was considered possible for this contest, but he'll ultimately need to miss a third straight game. If the Oilers win Tuesday, he may be available for Friday's Game 6. Kane has four goals, eight points and 37 PIM in 20 playoff appearances this year. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 4:48 pm

The 24-year-old forward is likely to spend most, if not all, of the 2024-25 campaign in the AHL. Rotowire.com Monday, 8:53 am
