  • Tough outing to end season
    Andersen made 19 saves on 23 shots in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Rangers in Game 6.

    Advice: Carolina had two separate two goal leads in Thursday's loss, but Andersen and the Hurricanes couldn't keep the door shut. Carolina went up 2-0 early in the second period, but New York answered back less then a minute later after Andersen lost his footing in the crease. New York went on to dominate the third period -- Chris Kreider scored a natural hat trick to complete the comeback for the Rangers. Andersen finished the postseason with a 6-4 record alongside a 2.62 GAA and an .895 save percentage.   • Helps Rangers advance
    Shesterkin turned aside 33 of 36 shots on goal in Thursday's 5-3 win over Carolina in Game 6.

    Advice: Shesterkin bounced back in a big way after Monday's Game 5 loss, helping the Rangers move on to the next round of the playoffs. Carolina outplayed New York for a large portion of the first 40 minutes, but Shesterkin stood tall between the pipes before the Rangers took over in the final frame. It was the 28-year-old netminder's eighth win of the postseason and 21st overall of his career. He has a record of 8-2 with a 2.40 GAA and a .923 save percentage after two rounds of the postseason.   • Starting Friday
    Bobrovsky will get the starting nod on the road for Game 6 against the Bruins on Friday, Jameson Olive of the Panthers' official site reports.

    Advice: Bobrovsky has been solid in each of the last four games, posting a 1.77 GAA and .910 save percentage while going 3-1. The 35-year-old backstop should be able to rely on his offense to close out the series, which is averaging 3.70 goals per game in the postseason, if he can continue to keep the goals allowed at two or fewer.     Pickard allowed three goals on 35 shots in Thursday's 3-2 loss to the Canucks in Game 5.

    Advice: Pickard allowed a goal in each period, including J.T. Miller's game-winner in the final minute of the third. While it wasn't a bad start, Pickard is now 1-1 with five goals allowed on 56 shots over his two playoff starts. The 32-year-old netminder has offered a bit more stability for the Oilers, but it's unclear if he'll again get the nod in Saturday's must-win Game 6.     Silovs allowed two goals on 23 shots in Thursday's 3-2 win over the Oilers in Game 5.

    Advice: Silovs allowed both goals in the first period, but the Canucks were able to bail him out with a goal in each frame. This was the first time he limited the Oilers to fewer than three goals during the second round. He's alternated wins and losses over the last five games while surrendering 16 goals.     Garand was called up from AHL Hartford on Thursday.

    Oettinger stopped 22 of 27 shots in Wednesday's 5-3 loss to the Avalanche in Game 5.

    Advice: Oettinger let a couple of one-goal leads slip away, and the Avalanche rallied ahead for good in the third period. This loss snapped his three-game winning streak, but the Stars are still ahead 3-2 in the series. Oettinger has won four of his five road games this postseason, allowing a total of seven goals in those contests, so he remains a strong option heading into Game 6 on Friday in Colorado.   • Grabs win Wednesday
    Georgiev stopped 23 of 26 shots in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Stars in Game 5.

    Advice: Georgiev didn't have a lead to work with until Casey Mittelstadt put the Avalanche up 3-2 in the third period. Cale Makar tallied shortly after that, and Georgiev was able to guide the Avalanche to the win, keeping their season alive and forcing a Game 6 on Friday. The 28-year-old goalie is 6-4 over 10 playoff appearances, but he's given up 31 goals, including at least three markers in four of the five contests so far in the second round.   • Inks one-year deal
    Rittich signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the Kings on Wednesday.

    Advice: Rittich had a 13-6-3 record, 2.15 GAA and .921 save percentage in 24 regular-season appearances with the Kings in 2023-24. He also stopped 34 of 39 shots (.872 save percentage) across two playoff outings this year. Rittich would have become an unrestricted free agent this summer if he didn't sign this extension. Cam Talbot, who logged 54 regular-season games with LA, remains set to become a UFA, so it's unclear who Rittich's goaltending partner will be next year. Although the 31-year-old Rittich is coming off a strong campaign, he has spent most of his career as a backup goaltender, so it wouldn't be surprising if the Kings seek to pair him with an established starter.
