  • Returning from conditioning stint
Grundstrom (lower body) will return from his conditioning loan with AHL Ontario and practice with LA on Saturday, John Hoven of SiriusXM NHL Network Radio reports.

Advice: Grundstrom has recorded a goal and an assist in two appearances with Ontario during his conditioning stint. It was his first action since Feb. 13. Grundstrom provided eight goals, 12 points and 115 hits in 50 regular-season contests with LA in 2023-24. If he's available for Game 1 against Edmonton on Monday, then the 26-year-old might serve on the fourth line. Rotowire.com Today, 1:14 pm
  • Questionable for Saturday
Nylander (undisclosed) missed Friday's practice, putting his availability for Game 1 against Boston on Saturday in question, per Joshua Kloke of The Athletic.

Advice: Nylander set a new career high of 98 points and matched his personal best of 40 goals while playing in all 82 regular-season games. The Maple Leafs might experiment with having Auston Matthews, Mitchell Marner and William Nylander all on separate lines in an effort to spread their offense, so Nylander's absence would throw a significant wrench in that plan. If he can't play in Game 1, Noah Gregor, who is otherwise projected to be a healthy scratch, might serve in a bottom-six capacity. Rotowire.com Today, 11:53 am
  • Won't play Saturday
Fast (undisclosed) will not be in the lineup for Game 1 against the Islanders on Saturday, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports.

Advice: Fast is currently stuck in a 24-game goal drought dating back to Feb. 13 versus the Stars. During his slump, the Swede notched six helpers, 23 shots and 30 hits while averaging 12:03 of ice time. Once given the all-clear, Fast should challenge Jack Drury or Stefan Noesen for a spot in the lineup. Rotowire.com Today, 11:18 am
  • Takes step back in 2023-24
Duehr finished 2023-24 with seven points over 40 contests.

Advice: Duehr played in a career-high number of games, but his production dropped from 2022-23 (11 points in 27 outings). The path to playing time doesn't get easier as more of the Flames' prospects become NHL ready. The 26-year-old winger has rarely been more than a fourth-liner in his career, and he'll have to compete for that spot in training camp in the fall. Rotowire.com Today, 11:04 am
  • Provides assist in win
Pospisil notched an assist, three shots on goal, three hits and four PIM in Thursday's 5-1 win over the Sharks.

Advice: Pospisil didn't score a goal over the last nine games of the season, but he added six assists. The 24-year-old concludes his rookie campaign with 24 points, 238 hits, 107 PIM, 117 shots on goal and a plus-14 rating through 63 games. He'll need to improve his technique with his aggressive play to avoid suspensions, but Pospisil could grow into being a hard-nosed power winger in the Flames' middle six. Rotowire.com Today, 10:59 am
  • Offers helper
Mangiapane recorded an assist, two hits and a plus-2 rating in Thursday's 5-1 win over the Sharks.

Advice: Mangiapane was able to achieve a 40-point season for the third straight year, earning 14 goals and 26 assists over 75 appearances. The winger also put up 122 shots on net, 89 hits, 47 PIM and a plus-7 rating despite seeing middle-six minutes. Mangiapane's proven at this point to be a solid all-situations winger, but he rarely stands out in any one area. Rotowire.com Today, 10:57 am
  • Manages assist in win
Zary logged an assist and two hits in Thursday's 5-1 win over the Sharks.

Advice: Zary had a strong finish in 2023-24, posting two goals and two helpers over the final five contests. The 22-year-old rookie had a solid campaign with 14 goals, 20 helpers, 90 shots on net and a plus-12 rating while seeing middle-six minutes for much of the year. Zary is one of the Flames' top prospects and will look to take a step forward in 2024-25, giving him appeal as a depth option in most fantasy formats if he can improve his power-play production and shoot the puck more often. • Supplies assist Thursday
Kuzmenko registered an assist and three shots on goal in Thursday's 5-1 win over the Sharks.

Advice: Kuzmenko was one of the top players in April with seven goals and six assists over nine contests. The 28-year-old winger had more points in 29 games with the Flames (25) than he had in 43 contests with the Canucks (21) prior to a midseason trade. He added 121 shots on net and a minus-9 rating this season. Kuzmenko's offense can be streaky, but he could be a top-six fit for the Flames heading into 2024-25. Rotowire.com Today, 10:51 am
  • May not play Sunday
Motte (lower body) is questionable for Sunday's tilt in Florida, Gabby Shirley of Bally Sports Florida reports.

Advice: Motte missed the last three games of the regular season with the injury. He ended the season with six goals and nine points in 69 appearances. Look for Motte to play in a bottom-six role up front, once he returns to action. Rotowire.com Today, 10:15 am
