      Skjei notched an even-strength assist in Tuesday's 4-3 double-overtime loss to the Rangers in Game 2.

      Advice: Skjei assisted on Dmitry Orlov's late first-period tally to give Carolina a 2-1 lead heading into the second frame. As Orlov skated towards the front of the net from the corner, Skjei floated a shot from the point that was redirected past Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin. However, the 30-year-old Skjei ultimately took a penalty in overtime that New York took advantage of to win the game. Look for Skjei to rebound with a strong effort in Game 3 on Thursday.       Aho registered three assists in Tuesday's 4-3 double-overtime loss to the Rangers in Game 2.

      Advice: Aho had a hand in all three of his team's goals to go along with seven shots on net, a plus-2 rating, three hits and 30:18 of ice time. That gives Aho five assists in two contests this series, yet the Hurricanes head back to Carolina down 2-0 against New York. The Hurricanes will need Aho to be at his best once again come Game 3 on Thursday if they have any chance of avoiding a three-game deficit.       Tkachuk scored a goal on five shots, added six hits and went minus-3 in Monday's 5-1 loss to the Bruins in Game 1.

      Advice: Tkachuk opened the scoring in the second period, converting a feed from Aleksander Barkov following a turnover. Tkachuk is on a nine-game point streak dating back to April 11, during which he has produced five goals and nine assists, with 10 of those 14 points coming in his six playoff outings. Fox will see a heavy workload on the Rangers' top pairing and first power-play unit, but he may have to focus more on defense since the Hurricanes boast a strong top six.       Samsonov allowed two goals on 31 shots in Saturday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Bruins in Game 7.

      Advice: Samsonov put in a strong showing after Joseph Woll (undisclosed) was deemed unavailable for the winner-take-all contest. Samsonov was able to get the game to overtime, but a bank pass from Hampus Lindholm found David Pastrnak in the space between Samsonov and defenseman Morgan Rielly, and Pastrnak was able to convert the decisive goal. Samsonov won just one of his five playoff appearances, allowing 14 goals on 134 shots during the first round. The 27-year-old will be an unrestricted free agent this summer, and the emergence of Woll makes it seem unlikely Samsonov will be back to the Maple Leafs after a mediocre campaign. Although Toronto still lost that contest 3-1, which gave Boston a 3-1 series lead, the 25-year-old Woll would start in Games 5 and 6, earning two straight wins while saving 49 of 51 shots.
