    • Signs two-year contract
Pickard signed a two-year, $2 million contract with the Oilers on Friday, per Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff.

Advice: Pickard had a 12-7-1 record, 2.45 GAA and .909 save percentage in 23 regular-season contests with Edmonton in 2023-24. He's projected to open the 2024-25 campaign as the backup goaltender behind Stuart Skinner. The Oilers also have Jack Campbell under contract for three more seasons with a $5 million annual cap hit, but he spent most of the recent campaign in the minors and seems unlikely to earn a roster spot with Edmonton to start the season if he remains with the franchise. • Making jump to North America
Akhtyamov is expected to move to Toronto ahead of the 2024-25 campaign, Terry Koshan of The Toronto Sun reports Wednesday.

Advice: Akhtyamov almost certainly will wind up with AHL Toronto this upcoming season considering he is just 22 years of age. Still, the backstop should get the opportunity to show the Maple Leafs what he can do during training camp. Last year with AK Bars in the KHL, Akhtyamov went 6-7-0 with a .921 save percentage and 2.51 GAA. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 8:42 am
    • Agrees to one-year deal
Bussi signed a one-year, two-way contract with Boston on Monday.

Advice: Bussi posted a 23-10-5 record with a 2.67 GAA and a .913 save percentage in 41 regular-season games with AHL Providence in 2023-24. The 25-year-old netminder doesn't have any NHL experience yet. He will probably spend most, if not all, of the 2024-25 campaign in the minors, though that could change if the Bruins make a trade involving a goaltender. Rotowire.com Monday, 2:26 pm

    • Sticking with Penguins
Nedeljkovic signed a two-year, $5 million contract with the Penguins on Thursday.

Advice: Nedeljkovic had an 18-7-7 record, 2.97 GAA and .902 save percentage in 38 regular-season contests with the Penguins in 2023-24. He was playing on a one-year, $1.5 million contract and could have tested the unrestricted free agent waters this summer. The Penguins also have Tristan Jarry signed through 2027-28, so Pittsburgh will be using the same goaltending duo for the second straight campaign in 2024-25. Nedeljkovic will likely begin the season as the backup netminder, but he has the potential to be utilized more than your typical No. 2, especially after Jarry was something of a mixed bag in 2023-24, finishing with a 2.91 GAA and a .903 save percentage in 51 regular-season outings. • Signs two-year contract

Advice: Villalta was set to become an unrestricted free agent in July after completing his one-year, two-way deal for the 2023-24 campaign. He had a 2.54 GAA and a .911 save percentage in 51 regular-season outings with AHL Tucson this year. He also appeared in two games with Arizona, posting a 4.17 GAA and an .828 save percentage.
