    • Two more points Thursday
Svechnikov recorded two assists in Thursday's 3-2 Game 3 win over the Islanders.

Advice: Svechnikov set up Dmitry Orlov's goal midway through the first period before adding a second helper on Sebastian Aho's eventual game-winning tally in the second. It's Svechnikov's second straight two-assist game. The 24-year-old winger had 19 goals and 52 points in 59 regular-season contests. Rotowire.com Today, 7:08 am
    • Another win in Game 3
Andersen stopped 29 of 31 shots in Thursday's 3-2 victory over the Islanders in Game 3.

Advice: After alternating starts with Pyotr Kochetkov late in the regular season, Andersen's now started each of the first three games of Carolina's first-round series against the Islanders, posting an excellent .922 save percentage while helping the Canes jump out to a convincing 3-0 series lead. The 34-year-old netminder figures to be back in goal Saturday as Carolina will look for an opening-series sweep in Game 4 on the road. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:57 pm
    • Pulled in the second
Sorokin allowed three goals on 14 shots before he was replaced by Semyon Varlamov in the second period of Thursday's 3-2 Game 3 loss to Carolina. Sorokin was credited with the loss.

Advice: Looking to climb out of a 2-0 hole in the series, the Islanders elected to switch things up and turn to Sorokin in net for Game 3. The 28-year-old netminder allowed two goals on the first six shots he faced in the first period and a third tally to Sebastian Aho 7:14 into the second before he was pulled in favor of Varlamov. Sorokin seemed to be the Islanders' unquestioned starter after signing an eight-year extension prior to the season. However, he was outplayed down the stretch by Varlamov, who took over the top goaltending job heading into the playoffs. Sorokin went 25-19-12 during the regular season with a career-low .908 save percentage and 3.01 GAA. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:24 pm
    • Set to start Thursday
Andersen is expected to start on the road against the Islanders in Game 3 on Thursday, per Andrew Gross of Newsday.

Advice: Andersen won the first two outings of this first-round series while stopping 42 of 46 shots (.913 save percentage). He was fantastic in the regular season, posting a 13-2-0 record, 1.84 GAA and .932 save percentage in 16 appearances. The Islanders weren't particularly strong offensively during the 2023-24 campaign, finishing 22nd with 2.99 goals per contest, so Andersen likely won't be challenged too much in the first round. • Picks up power-play assist
McDavid recorded a power-play assist, three hits and two PIM in Wednesday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Kings in Game 2.

Advice: McDavid didn't have much of an encore after a five-assist performance in Game 1. He was limited to a secondary helper on Zach Hyman's tally midway through the second period, as the Kings' defense did a better job of limiting McDavid's chances. The 27-year-old has four shots on net and six hits over two playoff contests, and he should continue to put pressure on the Kings even if it only leads to chances for his teammates. • Nets go-ahead goal
Hanifin scored a goal in Wednesday's 3-1 win over the Stars in Game 2.

Advice: Hanifin's tally late in the second period stood as the game-winner. The defenseman has three points over two playoff contests as he continues to show why Vegas was interested in trading for him in March. In addition to a top-pairing role at even strength, Hanifin is also seeing time on the first power-play unit and killing penalties, making him arguably the Golden Knights' most important blueliner thus far in the postseason. • Expected starter for Thursday
Sorokin is set to start at home against Carolina on Thursday, per Andrew Gross of Newsday.

Advice: Sorokin had a 25-19-12 record, 3.01 GAA and .908 save percentage in 56 appearances during the regular season. Semyon Varlamov was in net for the first two contests of the Islanders' first-round series and initially appeared to be the projected starter for Game 3 after being the first goaltender off the ice following Wednesday's morning skate, but coach Patrick Roy has indicated New York will make a change in goal. Carolina has a 2-0 series lead and has outscored the Islanders 8-4. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 8:59 am
    • Rings up another 30-goal campaign
Kyrou recorded 31 goals and 67 points -- 21 on the power play -- through 82 games during the 2023-24 season.

Advice: Kyrou made some strides in his defensive game, as he finished minus-12 after registering minus-38 last year, but he still has work to do in that area. Nevertheless, the 25-year-old got red-hot down the stretch with 10 goals over the final 13 contests to finish his second straight 30-goal season -- he finished 2022-23 with 37 markers. Kyrou will be a staple in the Blues offense for years to come, making him a coveted fantasy asset. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 6:24 pm

    • Undergoes shoulder surgery
Meier will have arthroscopic surgery on his shoulder but is expected to be ready for training camp ahead of the 2024-25 campaign, the Devils announced Tuesday.

Advice: Despite several injury concerns, Meier still managed to rack up 28 goals and 24 helpers in 69 games this season, including 17 power-play points. The Swiss international should be a near-lock to maintain a top-six role playing alongside Nico Hischier or Jack Hughes (shoulder) next season. It wouldn't be surprising to see Meier find his way back above the 30-goal and 60-point milestones provided he stays healthy. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 7:23 am
