    • First off ahead of Game 4
Swayman was the first goalie off the ice at the morning skate, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports, indicating he will guard the road net Saturday versus Toronto in Game 4.

Advice: Swayman is coming off a 28-save performance in Wednesday's 4-2 victory over the Maple Leafs in Game 3. He has stopped 63 of 66 shots en route to a 2-0 record in the opening round of the postseason. If the Bruins emerge victorious Saturday, the team can take a 3-1 stranglehold in the best-of-seven series. Rotowire.com Saturday, 9:23 am
    • Sharp in Game 3 win
Shesterkin made 28 saves Friday during a 3-1 win over the Capitals in Game 3 of the Rangers' first-round series.

Advice: John Carlson beat Shesterkin from the blue line with a knuckleball shot less than six minutes into the first period, but it only got the Rangers netminder mad, and he shut the door on Washington the rest of the way. Shesterkin has allowed only five goals on 75 shots while going 3-0 to begin the Rangers' postseason run, and they'll look for the sweep Sunday in Game 4. Rotowire.com Saturday, 7:53 am
    • Nets 20th career playoff goal
Carlson was the lone scorer for the Capitals in Friday's 3-1 Game 3 loss to the Rangers.

Advice: Carlson opened the scoring with a fluttering shot that eluded Igor Shesterkin, but the lead was short-lived as the Blueshirts countered with two goals of their own in the first period, followed by a power-play insurance tally in the second frame. The venerable defenseman is up to 20 goals and 75 total points through 126 career playoff games, but being down 3-0 in the series, the Capitals need goals any way they can get them. • Keeps dishing in Game 3 victory
Hughes earned two power-play assists Friday in a 2-1 win over the Predators in Game 3.

Advice: Hughes didn't post a shot on goal for the first time in the series, but the point-packing defender has four helpers through three contests against Nashville. Of course, you could say that his performance Friday was just another day at the office for Hughes after he led all NHL defensemen in assists (75) and points (92) during the regular season. • Gathers helper Friday
Nurse logged an assist, three shots on goal and six blocked shots in Friday's 6-1 win over the Kings in Game 3.

Advice: Nurse snapped a three-game dry spell by helping out on Leon Draisaitl's first-period tally. The 29-year-old Nurse posted 32 points in 81 regular-season contests in 2023-24, his lowest point total in six years. He remains a physical force with 172 blocked shots, 168 hits and 79 PIM, but he may not contribute much offense in the postseason. Rotowire.com Friday, 11:38 pm
    • Contributes helper
Ekholm logged an assist, five shots on goal, two blocked shots and two PIM in Friday's 6-1 win over the Kings in Game 3.

Advice: The assist was Ekholm's first point in three playoff outings to go with seven shots on net, four hits and five blocked shots. The 33-year-old defenseman had a career-high 45 points and a plus-44 rating over 79 regular-season appearances. His focus remains on keeping the Oilers' defensive zone clear, but he can also chip in solid secondary scoring from his top-four role. Rotowire.com Friday, 11:36 pm
    • Slated to face Capitals
Shesterkin is slated to start on the road against Washington in Game 3 on Friday, according to Seth Orlemann of USA Today.

Advice: Shesterkin won the first two contests of the series while stopping 42 of 46 shots (.913 save percentage). The Capitals ranked 28th offensively with just 2.63 goals per game in the regular season, so it's not surprising that they haven't given Shesterkin much trouble in the first round. That said, the series moving to Washington might help the Capitals, who were 22-12-7 at home compared to 18-19-4 on the road during the 2023-24 campaign. Rotowire.com Friday, 11:10 am
    • In goal for Saturday
Varlamov will get the starting nod at home for Game 4 against the Hurricanes on Saturday, Arthur Staple of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Varlamov was initially benched for Game 3 but came on in relief of Ilya Sorokin in the second period -- Varly stopped all eight shots he faced from that point on. Overall, Varlamov is sporting a 2.41 GAA and .915 save percentage through three playoff appearances, but he's lost both of his starts. At this point, if Varlamov puts together a good enough performance to earn a victory in Game 4, he'll almost certainly get the nod for Game 5 on Tuesday. Rotowire.com Friday, 9:25 am
    • Needed in relief
Varlamov stopped eight shots after entering in relief of Ilya Sorokin in the second period of Thursday's 3-2 Game 3 loss to the Hurricanes.

Advice: After Varlamov dropped the first two games of the series, the Islanders turned to Ilya Sorokin on Thursday in an attempt to change the momentum. However, Sorokin allowed three goals on Carolina's first 14 shots before the Isles turned back to Varlamov midway through the second period. The 35-year-old Varlamov managed to hold the Canes scoreless over the game's final 30:33 minutes, though New York ultimately couldn't find a tying goal, leaving Sorokin with the loss. Varlamov figures to be back between the pipes for Saturday's do-or-die Game 4. Despite the Islanders' struggles thus far in the series, Varlamov's posted a solid .915 save percentage through his three postseason appearances. Rotowire.com Thursday, 7:37 pm
