Keepers!!!
From your final roster, you will have to select 7 (not 8, my mistake) keepers just before our next year draft: C, Lw, Rw, Dman, Dman, Rookie and a Goalie. Few days before our next year draft, there will be a Keeper's deadline to give me time to set our draft properly.
A Rookie player must have played at most: 164 games for a forward (D, Lw, Rw, C) and 100 games for a goalie.
Additional information:
1. Like in the NHL, any player at least 26 years of age (by September 15th of that season) is not considered a rookie.
2. As suggested last season an applicable this year, selecting a rookie keeper is not an obligation, it's a opportunity. Here 3 potential scenarios for our next year draft:
2.1. You have a rookie keeper on your last year roster: you will have 7 keepers at the upcoming draft (C, Lw, Rw, D, D, Rookie, Goalie).
2.2. You don't have a rookie keeper on your last year roster, but you would like to add a free agent player who meets our rookie criteria, who was active but who wasn't on the roster of another GM at the end of the last season: you tell me which player, I will add this player to your keepers list and you will have 7 keepers for the upcoming draft (C, Lw, Rw, D, D, Rookie, Goalie).
2.3. You don't have a rookie keeper on your last year roster and do not want any FA player from last year as a potential Rookie keeper: you will only have 6 keepers at the upcoming draft. The additional player you will have to draft will be add at the final round of our draft and not at the beginning.
In other words, selecting a rookie keepers is no obligation, but a really good opportunity compare to selecting an additional player at the end of our next year draft. For your information, we selected 276 players at this year draft... which would be approximately the position of your additional player if you do not have a Rookie keeper.
