We are back! With the biggest pot ever, and some new, competitive management additions - this season should prove to be our most engaging yet.
The following rule changes have been introduced to inspire more trades - we want a dynamic and competitive league with engaged managers.
1.) The Pot: $800 for the first-overall Playoff Champion. $200 for the Runner-Up. $200 for the winner of the regular season. $100 payment due by December 1st. If you don't pay by the due date, your team will be locked. E-Transfer is best to: charlesecotton@gmail.com (Don't forget the middle 'E' )
2.) There will be a punishment for finishing last, to be decided by vote before the end of 2021. The punishment will be severe and embarrassing!
3.) At the end of this season, each team will be allowed to keep 3 players (keepers). Keepers can be kept by one manager for up to 3 seasons, after which they must be placed back into the draft pool. Important: If a keeper is traded, his 3-year contract RESETS.
4.) The Draft will continue to be a SNAKE draft (1-12, 12-1) as it has always been.
5.) The top 8 teams from the regular season will compete in the playoffs (3 weeks). The Bottom 4 teams from the regular season are eliminated. The final week of the NHL season will not be included in our pool – as most playoff-bound teams are resting star players. Keep in mind – due to the Olympics – the season runs late into April this year.
6.) The Draft order for next season will be as follows: The bottom four teams (those who didn't qualify for the playoffs) will choose 1-4, their order determined by an equal odds lottery (ie. each team has a 25% chance of picking first next season). The Top 8 teams will choose 5-12, their order to also be determined by an equal odds lottery.
7.) For the first time ever, teams can trade their DRAFT PICKS from next season. For example: If a manager recognizes that he doesn't have a championship-caliber team this year, he can trade one of his players to a top team in exchange for one of their higher draft picks next year. Remember: If you trade a player for a pick, you must also include one of your picks (likely a late one) as every manager must retain 14 picks for next season. (17 players total per team, with 3 keepers = a 14 round draft next year).
8.) The TRADE DEADLINE is March 16th. The Playoffs start March 28th.
9.) All trades will be reviewed by me, the commissioner. I will ONLY veto a trade if collusion is suspected. (ie. Two managers conspire to make an extremely lop-sided trade and secretly share the pot).
10.) Maximum 40 roster additions per season, with no weekly cap. No limit on the number of trades.
