Player Notes

  • Grabner leads NHL in even strength goals
Michael Grabner leads the NHL in even strength goals with 20.

Advice: Grabner scored shorthanded against the Leafs Thursday for his first non-even strength goal and has 21 on the season. Grabner played for Toronto last season and coach Mike Babcock praised the winger who only scored nine times for him. "He was on his way," Babcock said. "He had so many chances. He was snakebitten, but he got his confidence back. Grabs was a guy we really liked here. He did a real good job for us. We would’ve loved to have kept him, but we felt with the wingers we had coming, one of these young kids wouldn’t have got any ice time." He certainly has benefited the Rangers this season. Grabner is a must start, even if he sees little, if any, power play time. 35 minutes ago
  • Mike Cammalleri has two assist night
Mike Cammalleri had a couple of assists Saturday.

Advice: Cammalleri has been in a terrible slump of late with only a goal and six points in his previous 23 games. He had 14 points in eight games before that so perhaps this is the start of another hot streak. He has 10 goals and 25 points in 42 games this season, so he has been a marginal fantasy player in deeper pools. 47 minutes ago
  • Garnet Hathaway skating on his own
Garnet Hathaway (upper body) has skated on his own the last two days.

Advice: That's good news for Flames fans as the rugged winger has been missed in the lineup. He has five points with 44 minutes in the sin bin in only 24 games. Look for Hathaway to return this week or next to the lineup. Today, 4:42 am
  • Tobias Rieder has big game Saturday
Tobias Rieder scored once and added a pair of assists Saturday.

Advice: Rieder, Martin Hanzal and Radim Vrbata combined for 10 points in the Coyotes 5-3 win. The points snapped a six game pointless drought and gives the winger nine goals and 19 assists this season. He has been a very good find for the Coyotes with his two-way play. He was drafted late in the fourth round by Edmonton in 2011. While he is not worth a pick in fantasy, he contributes to the Coyotes in many ways other than the scoresheet. Today, 4:31 am
  • Christian Fischer scores in NHL debut
Christian Fischer made his NHL debut a more memorable one when he found the back of the net.

Advice: Fischer was selected in the second round, 32nd overall, in 2015 and put up big numbers for Windsor of the OHL last season with 40 goals and 90 points. He was flying in the AHL this season with 16 goals and 32 points in 31 games for Tucson and started his NHL career off on the right foot with a goal. "As the game went on, I felt more and more comfortable," said Fischer. "Obviously first period, jitters are always an issue. Maybe gripping your stick a little tight but to get my first one out of the way and to get more comfortable as the game went on, I think it just grows my confidence and I'm excited to see where it can take me." The goal was the game winner and he is worth picking up in very deep drafts only at this time. Today, 4:27 am
  • Stefan Noesen scores second of the season
Stefan Noesen scored his second of the season Saturday.

Advice: The forward was drafted 21st overall in 2011 by Ottawa and came over in the deal that brought Jakob Silfverberg to Anaheim and sent Bobby Ryan to Ottawa. He has been up and down numerous times this season and has two goals in 11 games thus far in the NHL in 2016-17. Today, 4:18 am
  • Logan Shaw takes over Silfverberg's spot
Logan Shaw got the opportunity to take over the injured Jakob Silfverberg's spot on a line with Andrew Cogliano and Ryan Kesler.

Advice: Shaw played a whopping 17:08 and had four hits while he was a minus-one. The former fourth liner has a goal and two points in 29 games. Silfverberg's injury isn't serious so don't expect Shaw to remain as a top-six forward for long. Today, 4:15 am
  • Corey Perry scores ninth of the season
Corey Perry scored for the second time this month in a 5-3 loss to Minnesota.

Advice: It's hard to believe that the former 50 goal scorer and six-time 30-plus goal getter, has only nine this season in 49 games but that's what he has. He does have 25 assists but that was not what you were expecting when you drafted him so high in your pool. He has just two goals in his last 19 games so a breakout could be expected shortly. Today, 4:10 am
  • Matt Read returns after missing two games
Matt Read (lower body) returned to action on Saturday.

Advice: It was a non-descript return for Read as he had a couple of hits in 11:44 of action which included 2:51 on the penalty kill. He has 11 points in 34 games this season and has little-to-no fantasy value. Yesterday, 11:29 pm
  • Jordan Eberle torches Flames with four points
Jordan Eberle continues to put a slump behind him, most emphatically doing so on Saturday with a four-point output in the Edmonton Oilers' 7-3 win against the Calgary Flames.

Advice: He generated two goals and two assists in this one, managing a +2 rating and six SOG in just 15:39 TOI. Eberle now has six points in his last four games to give him 32 on the season. Yesterday, 11:23 pm
  • Wild get 2 G from Jason Zucker, Erik Haula
The Minnesota Wild can thank Jason Zucker and Erik Haula most of all for their comeback, 5-3 win against the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday.

Advice: Early in the second period, the Ducks had gone up 3-1. Zucker and Haula keyed much of the rally from there, as Zucker now has 14 goals on the season while Haula has nine. Ryan Suter scored the game-winner, his seventh of 2016-17. Suter also had two assists on the night. Yesterday, 11:05 pm
  • Wheeler now with points in four of last five
Blake Wheeler potted both a goal and an assist during Saturday's 5-3 win over the Blues.

Advice: Over that span the Captain now has three goals and five points. For the season Wheeler has posted 15 goals and 39 points in 49 games. Yesterday, 4:52 pm
  • Beau Bennett scratched vs Flyers on Saturday
Beau Bennett has been scratched from Saturday's match with the Flyers.

Advice: Bennett has posted 10 points along with 45 hits, while averaging 13:29 of ice time per game. Yesterday, 4:00 pm
  • Weise, Manning, Schultz out vs Devils on Sat
Dale Weise, Brandon Manning and Nick Schultz will each be scratched against the Devils on Saturday.

Advice: Through 41 games this season Weise has posted just five points with 15 PIMs and 82 hits. Manning meanwhile has picked up nine points with 40 PIMs and 76 hits. Schultz finally has put together four points with 22 hits and 29 blocks in 13 games. Yesterday, 3:08 pm
  • Setoguchi, McNabb, Greene vs Islanders
Devin Setoguchi, Brayden McNabb and Matt Greene will each be scratched against the Islanders on Saturday.

Advice: Through 39 games so far this season Setoguchi has posted just nine points along with 48 hits. Over 17 games McNabb has posted two points along with 13 PIMs and 38 hits. Greene meanwhile has posted two points, 19 PIMs, 27 blocks and 71 hits in 26 games thus far. Yesterday, 2:47 pm
  • Chicago considering trading for Tomas Tatar
It appears that Chicago is considering trading for Tomas Tatar.

Advice: The 26-year-old is having the worst season of his career thus far, posting just 22 points in 46 games this season. Tatar carries a mere $2.75M cap hit and is, as is often the case when Chicago picks someone up, an unrestricted free agent at season's end. Take this rumor with a grain of salt, but it would be an interesting deal for both sides. Yesterday, 2:19 pm
  • Drew Stafford exits early vs Blues with LBI
Drew Stafford left Saturday's match with the Blues early due to a lower body injury.

Advice: Stafford played just 10:34 with a minor penalty before departing from the game. We'll keep you updated on his status. Consider him day-to-day for now. Yesterday, 2:11 pm
  • Alex Radulov nets 3 points in win over NJ
Alexander Radulov picked up three assists in Friday's 3-1 win over the New Jersey Devils.

Advice: All three of the helpers were registered while the Canadiens were on the power play. Radulov helped set up goals by Alex Galchenyuk, Shea Weber and Max Pacioretty. Radulov has 10 goals and 25 assists in 45 games this season. Yesterday, 9:40 am
  • Lightning waive Erik Condra on Saturday
On Saturday the Lightning waived Erik Condra.

Advice: Assuming he clears waivers, expect Condra to be sent back to AHL Syracuse. He has seven goals and 23 points in 24 games down on the farm, though he's pointless in 10 games with the Lightning this season. Yesterday, 9:36 am
  • Vladimir Tarasenko playing on new line
The Blues will put Vladimir Tarasenko on a line with Patrik Berglund and Robby Fabbri against the Jets on Saturday.

Advice: In an effort to get the Russian sniper going, head coach Ken Hitchcock is getting Tarasenko away from the slumping Jori Lehtera. Tarasenko hasn't found the back of the net in six consecutive games. Yesterday, 8:15 am
