  • Ryan Ellis picks up 1G, 1A in GM 2 loss
Ryan Ellis scored a goal and an assist in Friday's 3-2 loss to the St. Louis Blues.

Advice: Ellis helped set up James Neal's goal in the first period to give Nashville a 1-0 lead. The Preds defenseman scored one of his own early in the third period to make it 2-1 for his team. Unfortunately for the Preds, they were unable to close out the game, as they allowed goals to Jori Lehtera and Vladimir Tarasenko in the third frame. Ellis is up to two goals and five assists in six games this postseason. Those are very impressive numbers. The best-of-seven series is now tied at one. Game 3 will be played in Nashville on Sunday. Yesterday, 9:31 pm

Sami Vatanen will not be in the lineup for Game 2 against Edmonton on Friday night.

  • Anthony Bitetto scratched in GM 2 vs. STL
Anthony Bitetto will be a healthy scratch in Game 2 against St. Louis on Friday night.

  • Kevin Bieksa (LBI) is out Friday night
Kevin Bieksa (lower body) won't play in Game 2 on Friday.

Advice: Bieksa was already regarded as doubtful after being hurt in the series opener, so this doesn't come as a surprise. Ducks coach Randy Carlyle thinks Bieksa might be able to return before the end of the second round. Yesterday, 1:53 pm
  • Karl Alzner takes part in optional skate
Karl Alzner (upper body) participated in Friday's optional skate.

Advice: Alzner has missed five straight games due to the injury. He's still regarded as day-to-day and questionable for Game 2 on Saturday. Yesterday, 12:26 pm

  • Marc Methot records an assist Thursday
Marc Methot recorded his first point of the playoffs in Thursday's 2-1 win over the Rangers.

Advice: He had an assist on Erik Karlsson's game winner late in the third period. "We're playing the New York Rangers here, there's no way we're going to let ourselves get too high here, it's only Game 1," said Methot. "We still have a long way to go. You're put yourself in a good position when you win that first game, so we'll take it." He has six points in 26 career postseason appearances. Yesterday, 6:07 am
  • Erik Karlsson scores GWG in Game 1 vs NYR
Erik Karlsson scored the game-winning goal in Thursday's 2-1 win over the New York Rangers.

Advice: Karlsson gave the Sens the lead with just over four minutes remaining in the third period, when he banked a shot off Henrik Lundqvist's mask and in from the corner. Karlsson finished the game with five shots on goal and a plus-1 rating in 28:54 ice time. The Sens defenseman now has one goal and six assists in seven games this postseason. The Senators lead the best-of-seven series 1-0. Game 2 will be played in Ottawa on Saturday. Ryan Dzingel also scored for the Sens. Thursday, 6:55 pm
  • Mark Streit scratched in GM 1 vs. WSH

    Not Active
  • Nate Schmidt stays in for Game 1
Nate Schmidt will remain in the Capitals' lineup for Game 1 on Thursday.

Advice: Schmidt was inserted into the lineup because Karl Alzner has been out with an upper-body injury. Alzner isn't ready to return in Game 1, but Schmidt has been doing well enough that he might stay in the lineup even after Alzner returns. Thursday, 9:16 am
  • Colton Parayko has 3 points in last 4 games
Colton Parayko found the back of the net in Wednesday's Game 1 loss to Nashville.

Advice: He got the Blues on the board in the second period after the Predators took a 2-0 lead. Parayko posted five shots, two penalty minutes and a plus-3 rating in a 4-3 loss to Nashville in the contest. He has accounted for three points in his last four postseason matches. Thursday, 7:51 am
  • Adam Larsson comes up big in Game 1
Adam Larsson scored two goals and registered an assist in Edmonton's 5-3 victory over Anaheim in Game 1 Wednesday night.

Advice: Larsson had never had a multi-goal game in the NHL before and he picked a great time for his first. His second goal of the contest came at 15:20 of the third period and proved to be the game winner. He's not much of an offensive force and we wouldn't count on him to have another big offensive game in the 2017 playoffs, but the Oilers have been led so far by unlikely heroes, so you never know. Thursday, 7:50 am
  • Edmundson registers two assists Wednesday
Joel Edmundson earned a pair of assists in Wednesday's Game 1 loss to Nashville.

Advice: He assisted on goals by Colton Parayko and Jaden Schwartz in a 4-3 loss to the Predators. Edmundson has accounted for four points in six playoff games this year. He contributed just 15 points in 69 contests during the regular season. Thursday, 7:45 am
  • Dougie Hamilton helped by Giordano pairing
Dougie Hamilton feels being paired with Mark Giordano was a sizable factor in his success this season.

Advice: Hamilton got off to a rough start in 2016-17 as he had six points and was already minus-nine in 16 games through Nov. 12. After that, the decision was made to pair Hamilton with Giordano and from there Hamilton had 44 points and a plus-21 rating in 65 contests. "It was definitely a big change from where I started the season. I think I was playing with a bunch of different partners, third-pairings and that kind of thing," Hamilton said. "I had a bad stretch of games with a lot of minuses. (Gulutzan) put me with Gio and it kind of turned my season around. I tried to make the most of it and take the opportunity." Hamilton thinks very highly of Giordano and said that he looks up to him. Given their success together in 2016-17, it wouldn't be surprising to see them paired up again next season. Thursday, 7:44 am
  • Cam Fowler gets an assist in his return
Cam Fowler registered an assist in his return to the Ducks' lineup on Wednesday.

Advice: Fowler couldn't play in the first round due to his knee injury. He logged 26:33 minutes in his return, so clearly he's not being eased back in. Thursday, 7:37 am
