Player Notes

  • Canucks put Anton Rodin (knee) on the IR
Anton Rodin (knee) is on the injured reserve list.

Advice: Rodin re-aggravated his surgically-repaired knee. He last played on Dec. 23, so he can be activated whenever he's healthy. Today, 2:24 am
    Injured Reserve
  • Blake Coleman gets his first NHL point
Blake Coleman recorded his first career point on Tuesday.

Advice: Coleman assisted on Beau Bennett's game-winning goal versus Minnesota. Coleman was playing in his fourth career game. The 25-year-old also has 13 goals and 23 points in 34 AHL contests this season. Today, 2:07 am
  • Taylor Hall riding a four-game point streak
Taylor Hall's point streak reached four games on Tuesday.

Advice: Hall registered an assist in the Devils' 4-3 win over Minnesota. He has 11 goals and 29 points in 36 contests in 2016-17. Today, 2:02 am
  • Jordan Eberle frustrated by goal slump
Jordan Eberle admitted that his 18-game goal scoring drought has been frustrating.

Advice: "I feel like the last 12 games I could have had 10 goals," Eberle said. "It’s just not going in. I’ve hit six or seven posts, had a couple of breakaways. Last game, I actually thought I scored on the breakaway. "Everyone goes through slumps, I’ve had stretches where I haven’t scored, but nothing like this. This is for sure the longest. It’s for sure frustrating." Eberle's next chance to end the drought will come Wednesday night against Florida. He'll be worth keeping an eye on when it does end because that might open the floodgates. Today, 1:50 am
  • Boone Jenner is on a four-game point streak
Boone Jenner's point streak reached four games Tuesday night.

Advice: Jenner had a goal and an assist in the Blue Jackets' 4-1 win against Carolina. That gives him nine goals and 16 points in 43 contests this season. Today, 1:46 am
  • Calgary hasn't been using Brett Kulak
Despite calling Brett Kulak up on Jan. 9, the Calgary Flames haven't used him during this NHL stint.

Advice: Kulak last got into a game with the Flames on Nov. 27. "He’s going to have to wait his turn," said Flames head coach Glen Gulutzan. "We’ve got competition now for guys — they have to play a certain level to get in. He’s come back up, he’s looked real good in practice and when we get into a busier part of the schedule or if there’s some slippage in some other players, they’ve gotta be ready." Assuming Kulak stays with the Flames long enough, they are scheduled to play in three road games over four days from Jan. 23-26, so perhaps he'll get some work in then. Today, 1:41 am
  • Ryan White will likely miss Wednesday's game
Ryan White (lower body) probably won't return on Wednesday.

Advice: It would be Arizona's 11th consecutive game without White. He has five points and 60 penalty minutes in 30 contests in 2016-17. Today, 1:36 am
    Injured Reserve
  • Ryan Kesler might get 60 points this season
Ryan Kesler recorded an assist in a 2-1 overtime win against Tampa Bay on Tuesday.

Advice: Kesler has only been held off the scoresheet once in his last four contests. He has 18 goals and 38 points in 47 contests. At this rate, this could be the first time Kesler's reached the 60-point mark since 2010-11. Today, 1:32 am
  • Ryan Getzlaf has points in last six games
Ryan Getzlaf has recorded a point in his last six games.

Advice: Getzlaf extended that run on Tuesday with a goal, but it doesn't count as a point streak because it was interrupted by an injury. That was his sixth goal and 34th point in 40 contests in 2016-17. Today, 1:31 am
  • Marian Hossa passes 600 assists
Marian Hossa recorded his 600th assist on a Tanner Kero goal in the second period as the Blackhawks beat the Avalanche 6-4 Tuesday night.

Advice: Hossa would not stop there. He got his 601st assist on Vince Hinostroza third period goal at the 8:11 mark and earned his 602nd with an empty netter by Kero at 19:49. Hossa becomes the 32nd player in NHL history with 500 goals and 600 assists. Yesterday, 11:03 pm
  • Korbinian Holzer returned to action on Tuesday January 17. Yesterday, 10:52 pm
  • Ben Bishop solid in OT loss to Ducks
Ben Bishop gave up only one regulation goal, but was beaten in overtime to record a 2-1 loss to the Ducks Tuesday night.

Advice: The Lightning lost a man early in overtime as Tyler Johnson was sent to the sin bin for hooking. That allowed Ryan Kesler to win the resulting faceoff and feed Rickard Rakell, who riffled a shot past Bishop. It snapped a four-game winning streak for Bishop, but the goalie remains hot with a GAA of 2.00 or less in his last four games. Yesterday, 10:41 pm
  • John Gibson blocks 27 in OT win over Bolts
John Gibson was nearly perfect in a 2-1 win over the Lightning Tuesday night with 27 saves on 28 shots.

Advice: Gibson entered the contest with a 5-1-1 record during his last eight games and in that span, he had save percentages of .913 or greater for an average of .956. He blanked Detroit on January 4 and Dallas on January 10, and while he came up one shy of getting his third shutout this month, his save percentage of .964 was stellar by any measure. Yesterday, 10:32 pm
  • Valtteri Filppula scores in OT loss to Ducks
Valtteri Filppula scored the first goal of the night, but it was not enough as the Lightning lost 2-1 to the Ducks Tuesday.

Advice: Filppula’s seventh goal of the season came with an assist by Nikita Nesterov and Anton Stralman at the 4:36 mark of the second period. It did not take long for Ryan Getzlaf to answer it, however, and he responded 21 seconds later. Those would be the only regulation goals as both goalies had solid nights. This was Filppula’s first goal since December 10, but he entered the night with a current, four-game streak with an assist. Yesterday, 10:23 pm
  • Forsberg, Fisher, Ellis get 4 SOG in loss
Filip Forsberg, Mike Fisher, and Ryan Ellis each made four shots on goal Tuesday night, but none of them found the back of the net as the Predators lost 1-0 to the Canucks.

Advice: The three shooters accounted for 40 percent of the total shots on goal, but Ryan Miller was perfect in the net. Forsberg had the greatest opportunity with just over 19 minute of ice time. He has scored in his last two efforts although it took five shots against the Avalanche Saturday night to sink one goal. Yesterday, 10:05 pm
  • Henrik Sedin gets 998th point in win vs Preds
Henrik Sedin scored the only goal for either team as the Canucks beat the Predators 1-0 Tuesday night.

Advice: That was Sedin’s 231st goal and 998th point in his career and it came with only one shot on goal. This broke an eight-game goalless slump and it extended his point streak to three straight games. More importantly it snapped a four-game skid by the Canucks. The last three losses all came in overtime. Yesterday, 9:59 pm
  • Chad Johnson gets win in easy game
Chad Johnson faced only 22 shots Tuesday night as the Flames beat the Panthers 5-2.

Advice: Johnson owes a big thank you to the offense for keeping the action on the other end of the ice, but he did his part as well and logged his fifth straight game with a save percentage above the .900 mark. His previous four efforts came in a .926 or greater. Johnson has momentum on his side. This was also his fifth straight game with a GAA of 2.09 or less. Yesterday, 9:43 pm
  • Corey Crawford gives up 4 in win over Avs
Corey Crawford let four pucks get past him on only 23 shots Tuesday night, but it was enough to give the Blackhawks a 6-4 win over the Avalanche.

Advice: Crawford’s save percentage Tuesday night of .826 was not overly impressive, but at least the Blackhawks goalie got the win. On Sunday, he recorded a save percentage of .906 in a loss to the Wild. Crawford has four wins in his last six games with a save percentage well under the .900 mark. Yesterday, 9:22 pm
  • Matt Duchene scores 2G in loss to Hawks
Matt Duchene scored two goals Tuesday night as the Avalanche lost a 6-4 contest to the Blackhawks.

Advice: Duchene got the scoring off at the 7:39 mark of the first. He gave the team a little hope in the second to bring them to within one goal at the 14:08 mark of the second. Duchene had not scored a goal in his last six efforts and had only one assist, so he was rapidly losing fantasy relevance. Yesterday, 9:10 pm
  • Vince Hinostroza scores 2G in win over Avs
Vince Hinostroza scored the tying and game winning goals as the Blackhawks handed the Avalanche a 6-4 loss Tuesday night.

Advice: Hinostroza snapped a seven-game goal-less streak and earned this pair with only a little more than 11 minutes on ice. In that span of seven games without a goal, he had only one assist. These were Hinostroza’s fifth and sixth goals, which accounts for 33 percent of his season total. Yesterday, 9:04 pm
