  • Galchenyuk unlikely to start at C next year
Alex Galchenyuk probably won't be a center at the start of the 2017-18 campaign.

Advice: "Ideally, we'd love to have him play center, but I think he realizes the things that we realize," said coach Claude Julien. "As a center, it's one of the toughest jobs there is because you have to be all over the ice, but you have to be good at both ends and you have to responsible. Right now, he's not at that stage. As we speak, we have to put a guy in a position where he can help himself and the team." Galchenyuk had 17 goals and 44 points in 61 games this past season. He will be a restricted free agent after completing a two-year, $5.6 million deal. Galchenyuk probably won't get a long-term contract, but it's unclear if he will get much of a raise. This could be an interesting negotiation. Rotoworld.com Today, 7:39 am
  • CBJ wants more consistency out of Saad
Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen is hoping that Brandon Saad is more consistent in 2017-18.

Advice: "When you see his best game and his average game, there’s too big of a gap," Kekalainen said. "When he’s at his best, he can be a dominating force. We expect that 82 times a year. He knows it as well as we do." Saad had 24 goals and 53 points in 82 games this season. That's the third straight season that he's recorded either 52 or 53 points. The 24-year-old still has some untapped offensive upside left though. Rotoworld.com Today, 7:28 am
