Player Notes

  • Stars top scorers haven't been as good
The Dallas Stars have seen a decrease in production from their top players.

Advice: Last season, Jamie Benn, Tyler Seguin and Jason Spezza combined to score 107 goals. This year, they're on pace to find the back of the net just 60 times. Spezza, in particular, has struggled pretty badly, as he has no goals in his last 11 contests. "We need to be better all over the ice," Spezza said. "We have lots of chances, and we need to score on our individual chances. When you have chances, you need to bury it." Rotoworld.com Today, 8:28 am
  • Luca Sbisa scores GWG Friday vs. Panthers
Luca Sbisa potted the game-winning goal in Friday's 2-1 win over Florida.

Advice: He scored his second goal of the season 3:07 into the third period. Sbisa has two points in his last two games to give him a total of 11 on the season. He has 16 career goals in 430 NHL appearances. Rotoworld.com Today, 8:00 am
  • Nino Niederreiter has 5 goals in last 5 games
Nino Niederreiter has found the back of the net five times in his last five games.

Advice: Niederreiter has two multi-goal efforts during that span, including in Thursday's game against the Arizona Coyotes. The Wild forward is on pace to surpass the 20-goal mark for the third consecutive season. He has 14 goals and 31 points in 44 games in 2016-17. Rotoworld.com Today, 7:16 am
  • Jeff Skinner benched in loss to Penguins
Jeff Skinner was benched in Friday's 7-1 loss to Pittsburgh.

Advice: He was whistled for an embellishment penalty and for unsportsmanlike conduct during the second period. Skinner was on the pine in the third period. "You don't want to hurt the team," he said. "It's tough sitting, watching, especially when guys are out there battling." He finished the contest with just 10:22 of ice time. • Milan Lucic scores PPG in OT loss
Milan Lucic tied the game on the power play with less than five minutes remaining in a 3-2 shootout loss to the Nashville Predators.

Advice: It was a great sequence leading up to the goal for Lucic. He first obliterated Austin Watson behind the net, then drew a retaliation penalty before putting the puck in the back of the end on the ensuing power play. It was Lucic's first goal since December 21 against the Coyotes. This season has been increasingly hard to deal with his inconsistent scoring habits because his penalty minute totals are down. However, he did pick up seven penalty minutes in the loss. He now has 28 points and 25 penalty minutes in 48 games this season. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 10:18 pm
