  • J.T. Compher registers game-winning goal
J.T. Compher posted his seventh goal of the season in Monday's 2-1 road win against the Vegas Golden Knights.

Advice: Compher was helped out by Conor Timmins and Alex Newhook at 11:33 of the third period, breaking a 1-1 tie, and he ended up securing his first game winner since March 25, which was also against VGK. He has points in back-to-back games for the first time since March 29-31, too. Compher might not be someone you'd normally bother with in most seasonal fantasy pools, but he is someone to watch in deeper postseason pools. Yesterday, 9:54 pm
  • Alex DeBrincat nets 2 pts in OTL to Stars
Alex DeBrincat picked up a goal and an assist during Monday's 5-4 OT loss to the Dallas Stars.

Advice: DeBrincat did all of his damage in the first two periods of the game, as he opened the scoring 53 seconds into the first frame and he added an assist on Pius Suter's goal less than 30 seconds later. The Blackhawks won't be making the postseason this year, but DeBrincat still had a ridiculous 2021 campaign. He finishes the year with an incredible 32 goals and 56 points in 52 games. Yesterday, 8:13 pm
  • Matt Duchene scores twice in win over Hurricanes
Matt Duchene scored a pair of goals during Monday's 5-0 win over the Carolina Hurricanes.

Advice: Duchene gave the Predators 2-0 and 3-0 in the first two periods of the game and they cruised the rest of the way. The 30-year-old finished the night with a plus-2 rating and three shots on goal in 16:36 of ice time. It's been a tough year for him in Nashville, but he could be building some positive momentum heading into the playoffs. Duchene finishes the regular season with six goals and just 13 points in 33 games this season. These two teams will go head-to-head in the opening round of the postseason. Yesterday, 7:42 pm
  • Nils Hoglander scores brace in win over Winnipeg
Nils Hoglander scored twice in Monday's 3-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets.

Advice: Hoglander poked the puck off of Ville Heinola's stick to spring himself on a breakaway and put back his own rebound past Laurent Brossoit to give the Canucks a 1-0 lead at the 3:04 mark of the opening period. He also tried to feed a teammate on a 2-on-1 and his pass deflected off of Josh Morrissey and into the back of the net for his second of the game. The 20-year-old finished the game with a plus-1 rating, six shots on goal and a hit in 16:51 of ice time. Hoglander has 12 goals and 14 assists in 50 games in his rookie campaign. Yesterday, 7:29 pm
  • Jake Evans collects 1G, 2A in OTL to Oilers
Jake Evans scored a goal and two assists in Monday's 4-3 OT loss to the Edmonton Oilers.

Advice: With Phillip Danault out of the lineup, Evans was tasked with shutting down Connor McDavid. The youngster did a pretty good job taking it to McDavid in regulation (the Oilers captain finished the night with the OT winner and an assist). Evans looked really comfortable playing with Paul Byron (two points) and Artturi Lehkonen (three points) and he got a pair of shifts in overtime. The 24-year-old now has three goals and 10 assists in 46 games this season. Yesterday, 7:12 pm
  • Ondrej Kase suffers UBI on Monday night
The Boston Bruins announced that forward Ondrej Kase suffered an upper-body injury during tonight's game against the New York Islanders.

Advice: Kase had just returned from an upper-body injury that kept him out for almost the entire season and he lasted just over six minutes before going down once again. It's unclear if he'll be ready for the postseason. Yesterday, 6:54 pm
  • Ryan Reaves (undisclosed) out on Monday
The Vegas Golden Knights won't have Ryan Reaves (undisclosed) available on Monday night against the Colorado Avalanche.

Advice: Reaves hasn't played since April 11. Vegas will play their season finale on Wednesday night and Reaves is trending as being a game-time decision for that contest as well. Yesterday, 6:37 pm
  • Joel Farabee nets two goals in win vs. Devils
Joel Farabee scored two goals in Monday's 4-2 win over the New Jersey Devils.

Advice: Farabee found himself in behind the defense of the Devils when he took a pass and made a slick move to beat Scott Wedgewood to get the Flyers on the board at the 13:44 mark of the first period. In the final frame, he cleaned up a rebound off the stick of Wade Allison to make it 4-2. Farabee finished the game with a plus-2 rating and four shots on goal in 16:12 of ice time. The 21-year-old has 20 goals and 18 assists in 55 games this season. Yesterday, 6:36 pm

  • Tom Wilson practices on Monday

Advice: Wilson skated alongside Daniel Sprong and Philippe Maillet during the session. He appears to be fine after he temporarily left Saturday's game against Philadelphia. Yesterday, 3:25 pm
  • Predators activate Mathieu Olivier from IR
Mathieu Olivier has been activated from injured reserve.

Advice: This could pave the way for Olivier's return to the lineup on Monday night for the team's regular-season finale. He hasn't played since April 8 because of a lower-body injury. Yesterday, 3:07 pm

  • Ivan Barbashev good to go on Monday night
Ivan Barbashev will be in the lineup on Monday night against Los Angeles.

Advice: Barbashev appeared to be in serious pain when he left the ice on Saturday. He wasn't able to put any weight on his left leg when he left St. Louis' game against Vegas late, but he will play on Monday. Barbashev is also slated to play on the top line with Ryan O'Reilly and David Perron. Yesterday, 1:38 pm
  • Sammy Blais may play before postseason
Sammy Blais (upper body) still could play before the playoffs begin.

Advice: Blais isn't with the Blues on the road and he won't play against Los Angeles on Monday night. St. Louis will host Minnesota on Wednesday and Thursday to close out the regular season. Yesterday, 1:33 pm
  • Blues hope Tarasenko can play before playoffs
Vladimir Tarasenko (lower body) won't play on Monday night, but the Blues hope he can return before the end of the regular season.

Advice: "That's the plan. It would be nice to get those three guys in the lineup, but we'll have to wait and see if it happens," said coach Craig Berube referring to Tarasenko, Sammy Blais and Vince Dunn. This will be Tarasenko's fourth straight game on the sidelines Yesterday, 1:28 pm
  • Ondrej Kase makes his long-awaited return Monday
Ondrej Kase (upper body) will be back in the lineup on Monday night.

Advice: Kase was injured back on Jan. 16 in Boston's second game of the regular season. "I remember everything from the hit," he said on Monday. "I just got a bad hit to the face. I started feeling very bad right away…needed time to see what was going on and it's almost four months. We didn't expect it to be this long but I'm so excited to be back." Kase feels 100 percent and he's been skating for nearly two months, so he feels as though his conditioning will be fine. He is slated to play alongside Jake DeBrusk and Curtis Lazar. Yesterday, 11:53 am
  • Alex DeBrincat lights lamp twice in win vs. Stars
Alex DeBrincat posted two goals in Sunday's 4-2 win against the Dallas Stars.

Advice: DeBrincat ended up with a plus-1 rating, four shots and four hits in his 19:23 of ice time across 23 shifts while winning his only faceoff attempt. His first goal came on the power play, and was his 30th of the season, making it 3-1 at the time. As it stands, it was the game-winning tally. He also added a goal at 16:48 of the third period for insurance, as the Blackhawks won their penultimate game of the regular season. The teams are back at it on Monday night in the finale. It has been a super successful year for DeBrincat, even if the team will miss the playoffs, as he has 31 goals and 54 points in just 51 games. Sunday, 8:15 pm
  • Ondrej Kase (upper body) could play on Monday
Ondrej Kase is "on track to play" in Monday's game against the New York Islanders, per coach Bruce Cassidy.

Advice: "Get through today, let's re-evaluate in the morning," said Cassidy. "It will be his call and the medical [team's] call. If they tell me he's ready and wants to get in, then the sooner the better is the way I look at it." Kase has been limited to just two games this season and he hasn't played since Jan. 16 due to an upper-body injury. Sunday, 10:50 am
  • Tom Wilson temporarily leaves game Saturday
Tom Wilson was able to return for the second period after temporarily leaving Saturday's game.

Advice: Wilson was clipped at 11:07 of the first period in the neutral zone by Nicolas Aube-Kubel on what appeared to be incidental contact. He limped gingerly down the tunnel and was unable to put pressure on his leg, but he returned for the start of the second period and finished the game. Saturday, 8:53 pm
  • Vladimir Tarasenko won't play on Saturday night
Vladimir Tarasenko (lower body) won't play in Saturday's game against Vegas.

  • Ondrej Kase (upper body) practices Friday
Ondrej Kase (upper body) practiced for the first time since his injury on January 16.

Advice: Kase has played only two games this season but could return before the start of the playoffs as the Bruins play twice next week to finish up their regular season. “Once he’s in contact, [Friday] wasn’t full blown middle of the year practice, but there was some jostling out there, some battling,” Coach Bruce Cassidy said of Kase, who played less than 20 minutes of the entire season without registering a point this year. “Let’s see how he feels [on Saturday]. He won’t go in [for the Saturday matinee]. But if there’s no ill effects from today, that really ups his chances for Monday or Tuesday. That will depend on where we are, what’s the best fit for us and then, is he ready? What’s best for him, as well. Try to merge those two. We’ve always said if he’s in a normal colored jersey in practice, going through what everyone else is going through, then that’s probably the last hurdle, typically, for guys to get in the lineup. We would like to see him, if he does get cleared. It’s been a long time. A lot of catching up to do. It’s still nice to know what is available to you should we need to put [Kase] in the lineup in the playoffs at some point.” Stay tuned. Saturday, 3:43 am
  • Sammy Blais (UBI) not with Blues on the road
Sammy Blais (upper body) won't play on Friday night.

Alex DeBrincat scored the game-winning goal during Thursday's 2-1 OT win over the Carolina Hurricanes.

Advice: For most of this game Carolina held a lead, but towards the end of the third Chicago tied it up and forced an overtime. Just over two minutes into additional minutes, DeBrincat notched home the game-winner to seal the victory for the Blackhawks. This was his 29th goal of the year. He also has 23 assists so far this season, which puts his point total at 52. He leads Chicago in goals. With this performance DeBrincat now also increases his point streak to six games. Thursday, 7:45 pm
  • Tom Wilson (upper body) should be fine
Tom Wilson (upper body) "should be fine," according to coach Peter Laviolette.

Advice: Wilson exited Wednesday's game against the New York Rangers early due to an upper-body injury. However, it seems as though it wasn't anything serious. Wilson only played four shifts and racked up 15 penalty minutes in 2:36 of ice time in Wednesday's contest. Thursday, 10:47 am
  • NY Rangers get justice; Tom Wilson out with UBI
The Washington Capitals have announced that Tom Wilson suffered an upper-body injury and won't return to Wednesday's game against the New York Rangers.

Advice: The game between the Rangers and Capitals has somehow exceeded expectations, with fights breaking out throughout the opening period. As Wilson made his first steps onto the ice, he was immediately confronted by New York's Brendan Smith and the two engaged in a hard fought fight. Wilson left the ice in the opening period after getting a 10-minute misconduct for an exchange with Kevin Rooney and the Capitals announced he wouldn't return a little while later. We'll provide an update on Wilson's status when one is provided by the team. Wednesday, 4:42 pm

Vladimir Tarasenko (lower body) won't play on Wednesday night and he's listed as day-to-day.

  • Vegas HC expects Reaves to be back for playoffs
Coach Peter DeBoer expects Ryan Reaves (undisclosed) to be ready for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Advice: Having said that, DeBoer isn't sure if Reaves will be back before the end of the regular season. The 34-year-old tough guy hasn't played since April 11 because of an undisclosed ailment. Wednesday, 9:38 am
  • Tarasenko has no shot attempts Monday
Vladimir Tarasenko had no shot attempts in Monday's game against Anaheim.

Advice: That's not a misprint as not only did he have no shots on goal, he had no attempts. Tarasenko has undergone surgeries on both shoulders in the last three years and that may have zapped him of the strength he needs to shoot. We cannot recommend him next season at this time as he will have to start showing more than his four goals in 24 games thus far this season. Wednesday, 7:58 am

Advice: DeBrincat opened the scoring with his first career shorthanded goal and he added a second tally in the third frame to cut his team's deficit to 4-3 at the time. DeBrincat has scored at least one goal in four consecutive games for the Blackhawks. He now has 28 goals and 51 points in 49 games this season. He's having a terrific bounce-back year after scoring "only" 18 goals in 70 games last year. Tuesday, 7:57 pm
  • Tom Wilson avoids suspension, gets $5,000 fine
Tom Wilson received a $5,000 fine for roughing Pavel Buchnevich during Monday's game.

Advice: Wilson appeared to punch Buchnevich in the head while Buchnevich was already down on the ice. On top of that, when Artemi Panarin attempted to rise to the defense of his teammate, Wilson knocked Panarin to the ice twice during the ensuing fight until the referees and Rangers pulled Wilson off Panarin. Panarin left the game and reportedly might miss what's left of the season due to the injury. Wilson is signed to a six-year, $31 million contract. He'll be eligible to play when the Capitals face the Rangers again on Wednesday. Tuesday, 7:34 am
  • Alex DeBrincat scores 26th goal in loss to CAR
Alex DeBrincat scored a goal in Monday's 5-2 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes.

Advice: DeBrincat cut the Blackhawks' deficit to 4-2 with just over five minutes remaining in the third period, but that's as close as Chicago would come to making it a game. The 23-year-old has now scored in three consecutive games. He has 26 goals and 49 points in 48 games this season. DeBrincat had a disappointing offensive season last year, but he's bounced back in a big way in 2021. Monday, 8:10 pm

Tom Wilson picked up a goal and an assist in Monday's 6-3 win over the New York Rangers.

Advice: Wilson registered an assist on Conor Sheary's first-period goal (2-0) and he added an empty-netter with 1:26 remaining in regulation. It was an eventful night for the Caps forward, as he also picked up a 10-minute misconduct for pushing Pavel Buchnevich's head into the ice. Wilson finished the night with a plus-1 rating and 16 penalty minutes in 11:49 of ice time. The 27-year-old has 13 goals and 20 assists in 43 games this season. It'll be interesting to see if Wilson gets a call from the NHL's department of players safety before these two teams meet again on Wednesday night. Monday, 7:21 pm
  • Vladimir Tarasenko (LBI) expected to play Monday
Vladimir Tarasenko (lower body) is set to play Monday night.

  • Berube: 'Good chance' Tarasenko plays Monday
Coach Craig Berube said Monday morning that there's a "good chance" that Vladimir Tarasenko will play on Monday night.

Advice: Tarasenko split time in line rushes with Sammy Blais during the morning skate, but he also worked on the top power-play combination. The Blues will make final lineup adjustments following the pregame warmups, but Kyle Clifford is expected to sit if Tarasenko returns. He has missed the last two games due to a lower-body injury. Monday, 9:51 am
  • Tom Wilson gets the 'A' Saturday night
Tom Wilson was an alternate captain Saturday.

Advice: With Alex Ovechkin and John Carlson out of the lineup Thursday and Saturday, the Capitals needed to put an 'A' on someone's uniform and coach Peter Laviolette went with Wilson after giving it to Zdeno Chara on Thursday. “It’s a chance to just acknowledge some guys that are actually doing a good job of leading this club,” Laviolette said. “We’ve always said we’ve felt like we have strong leadership, and Tom has been a good leader the whole time, and Zdeno has come in and been a leader. . . . It is not just a token thing; it is because guys bring good leadership in the room.” Wilson has 12 goals and 31 points with 53 penalty minutes in 42 games this season. Keep him in your lineup. Monday, 4:55 am
  • Alex DeBrincat records two more points
Alex DeBrincat posted a goal and an assist in Saturday's 5-4 home loss against the Florida Panthers.

Advice: DeBrincat posted three shots on goal with a blocked shot and three hits in 21:30 of ice time across 24 shifts. He won just two of his six faceoff opportunities (33.3 percent), which might have been the only thing that didn't go well for him because the actual result of the game. DeBrincat has two goals and four points in a three-game point streak, and he has six goals and 12 points across the past 12 outings. May 1, 10:23 pm
  • Vladimir Tarasenko (LBI) will miss Saturday's game
Vladimir Tarasenko (lower body) won't make his return on Saturday.
