  • Cal Petersen comes up short in overtime
Cal Petersen allowed two goals on 19 shots in Monday's 2-1 overtime home loss against the St. Louis Blues.

Advice: Petersen did a good job in this one, as he didn't allow a goal until 85 seconds into the third period when Tyler Bozak opened the scoring for the game. Alex Iafallo tried to bail him out with the game-tying goal, and that helped to force overtime. Unfortunately for the Kings, Petersen was beaten 46 seconds into the extra session by Justin Faulk. The Kings wrap up the regular season in Colorado on Wednesday and Thursday, so Petersen is likely to make at least one more start before the season ends. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 10:32 pm
  • Jordan Binnington makes 26 saves in win at L.A.
Jordan Binnington allowed one goal on 27 shots in Monday's 2-1 overtime victory on the road against the Los Angeles Kings.

Advice: Binnington and Cal Petersen were tossing up donuts through the first two periods. Tyler Bozak finally broke through for the Blues at 1:25 of the third period, but Alex Iafallo scored at 7:35 to tie things up and force overtime. Binnington owes Justin Faulk a concrete from Ted Drewes after helping him to the OT win. Binnington improved to 17-14-8, and he'll likely get one more start either Wednesday or Thursday against the visiting Minnesota Wild before the postseason begins. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 10:21 pm
  • Robin Lehner makes 19 saves in home loss
Robin Lehner allowed two goals on 21 shots in Monday's 2-1 home loss against the Colorado Avalanche.

Advice: Lehner was staked to a 1-0 lead when Alex Pietrangelo lit the lamp with helpers to captain Mark Stone and Nicolas Hague at 8:11 of the first period. It stayed that way until Andre Burakovsky beat Lehner at 7:04 of the second period. The game was tied until J.T. Compher pushed the Avs into the lead for good midway through the third. Lehner slips to 13-4-2 with 2.29 goals-against average and .913 save percentage, and that's likely how he will end his regular season with just one game to play and Marc-Andre Fleury likely to start the finale Wednesday in San Jose. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 9:57 pm
  • Philipp Grubauer makes 36 saves in win in Vegas
Philipp Grubauer allowed one goal on 37 shots in Monday's 2-1 road win against the Vegas Golden Knights.

Advice: Grubauer fell behind 1-0 at 8:11 of the first period when Alex Pietrangelo notched his sixth goal of the season. The Golden Knights were ahead until Andre Burakovsky leveled the game 1-1 at 7:04 of the second period, and then J.T. Compher put the Avs up for good at 11:33 of the third period. Grubauer improved to 29-9-1 overall, which gives him 11 more wins than his previous career best of 18 set in both 2018-19 and 2019-20 with the Avs. He might be headed for his first-ever Vezina Trophy at this rate. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 9:45 pm
  • Collin Delia makes 45 stops in OTL to DAL
Collin Delia stopped 45 of 50 shots in Monday's 5-4 OT loss to the Dallas Stars.

Advice: Delia was extremely busy in this game, as he faced 14, 16 and 17 shots in each of the regulation periods in this game. The Blackhawks had multiple two-goal advantages in this one, but they simply couldn't hang on for the win. Delia ends the 2021 season with a 1-3-1 record, a 3.59 goals-against-average and a .902 save percentage.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 8:24 pm
  • Jake Oettinger makes 19 saves in OT win over CHI
Jake Oettinger stopped 19 of 23 shots during Monday's 5-4 OT win over the Chicago Blackhawks.

Advice: This was the last game of a challenging season for the Stars and they ended it with a bang. Dallas was trailing 2-0, 3-1 and 4-2 in this game, but they managed to fight back to force overtime. That's when rookie Jason Robertson added the game-winner with 30 seconds remaining in the final frame. Oettinger finishes the regular season with a 11-8-7 record, a 2.36 goals-against-average and a .911 save percentage. The 22-year-old is clearly Dallas' goalie of the future.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 8:22 pm
  • Petr Mrazek allows 5 goals in loss to Predators
Petr Mrazek allowed five goals on 27 shots during Monday's 5-0 loss to the Nashville Predators.

Advice: This game didn't mean anything in the standings, but it's not the way Mrazek wanted to perform heading into a playoff series against these same Predators. The 29-year-old only played in 12 games this year due to injury, but he could salvage his campaign if he gets an opportunity to play (well) in the postseason. He finishes the year with a 6-2-3 record, a 2.06 goals-against-average and a .923 save percentage.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 7:57 pm
  • Pekka Rinne blanks Hurricanes on Monday
Pekka Rinne turned aside all 30 shots he faced during Monday's 5-0 win over the Carolina Hurricanes.

Advice: This was a special moment for the Predators legend, as this could've been his final regular season game for the team. Not only did he play well in this game, he was able to record the 60th shutout of his career in the process. The fans gave Rinne a great ovation when he skated onto the ice after the game as the first star. He has a 10-12-1 record with a 2.84 goals-against-average and a .907 save percentage in 2021. He had a rough year, but there's no denying that his career has been rock-solid.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 7:53 pm
  • Laurent Brossoit allows 3 goals in loss vs. VAN
Laurent Brossoit allowed three goals in Monday's 3-1 loss to the Vancouver Canucks.

Advice: The Jets have been locked into a playoff spot for a while so the loss doesn't mean all that much but Montreal is still breathing down their necks for the third slot in the North Division. Brossoit was the benefactor of some unfortunate bounces and poor defensive play by the team in front of him that led to pucks in the back of his net. The 28-year-old owns a 6-6-0 record with a 2.42 goals-against average and .918 save percentage.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 7:51 pm
  • Thatcher Demko makes 39 saves in win over Jets
Thatcher Demko turned aside 39 shots in Monday's 3-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks.

Advice: Demko had a stellar performance in what ultimately ended up being a meaningless performance for the Canucks as they were officially eliminated from playoff contention on Monday night. He made two big stops on a Kyle Connor breakaway to keep their 2-1 lead in tact in the second period. Demko owns a 14-17-1 record with a 2.89 goals-against average and .914 save percentage.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 7:44 pm
  • Andrei Vasilevskiy allows 4 goals in loss to FLA
Andrei Vasilevskiy allowed four goals on 30 shots during Monday's 4-0 loss to the Florida Panthers.

Advice: Both teams were locked into a playoff spot heading into tonight's game, but the game wasn't totally meaningless. The Bolts could've moved up into second place with a win. Vasilevskiy finished the year with a 31-10-1, a 2.21 goals-against-average and a .925 save percentage. This loss won't matter if the Lightning are able to knock the Panthers out of the playoffs during their first-round series.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 7:39 pm
  • Chris Driedger shuts out Bolts on Monday night
Chris Driedger stopped all 30 shots he faced during Monday's 4-0 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Advice: The win allowed them to secure the second seed in the division. The Panthers sent a pretty strong message to their first-round opponent in this year's playoffs tonight. Driedger turned in a really solid performance during the regular-season finale for both teams. The 26-year-old finished the year with a 14-6-3 record, a 2.07 goals-against-average and a .927 save percentage. It'll be fascinating to see how the Panthers' goalie situation plays out in the playoffs, but don't be surprised if Sergei Bobrovsky gets the first opportunity to play. No matter what happens in the playoffs, Driedger can look back at this season fondly.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 7:34 pm
  • Semyon Varlamov exits game vs. Bruins
Semyon Varlamov exited Monday's game against the Boston Bruins with a "little strain."

Advice: Islanders fans can breath a sigh of relief after Varlamov didn't come out to start the third period on Monday night. After the game head coach Barry Trotz said, "Varlamov had a little strain. He could have finished, but we opted to go the safe route. If it was a playoff game, he would have finished." The 33-year-old wasn't credited with the overtime loss so he finished the regular season with a 19-11-4 record, 2.04 goals-against average and .929 save percentage. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 7:23 pm
  • Tuukka Rask makes 16 saves in OTW vs. Islanders
Tuukka Rask made 16 saves in Monday's 3-2 overtime win against the New York Islanders.

Advice: Rask was beat twice by perfect shots from Oliver Wahlstrom and Mathew Barzal but it was an otherwise very quiet night in his crease as the Islanders only mustered up 18 shots on goal in the game. The Bruins netminder wasn't tested on many occasions but still put together a solid performance and was credited with the win. Rask owns a 15-5-2 record with a 2.28 goals-against average and .913 save percentage on the season. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 7:19 pm
  • Jake Allen gives up 4 goals in OTL to Oilers
Jake Allen allowed four goals on 35 shots in Monday's 4-3 OT loss to the Edmonton Oilers.

Advice: The good news is that the point in the standings allowed the Canadiens to clinch the final playoff spot in the North Division. The bad news is that Allen was kind of fighting the puck a little bit in this one. He ended up allowing the game-winning goal to Connor McDavid in the extra frame. Allen has now dropped three games in a row and he has an 11-12-5 record. He owns a 2.68 goals-against-average and a .907 save percentage in 2021. It'll be interesting to see if Carey Price (concussion) is back for the start of the playoffs.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 7:19 pm
  • Philipp Grubauer starts Monday vs. Vegas
Philipp Grubauer will be in goal for Monday's game against Vegas.

Advice: Grubauer is coming off a 3-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings last Friday when he stopped 15 shots. He has a 28-9-1 record with a 2.03 goals-against average and .919 save percentage.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 7:05 pm
  • Robin Lehner starts against Colorado
The Vegas Golden Knights will start Robin Lehner on Monday night against the Colorado Avalanche.

Advice: Lehner rebounded from back-to-back losses by backstopping Vegas to a win on Friday against the Blues. The Swedish netminder will come into tonight's game with a 13-3-2 record, a 2.30 goals-against-average and a .913 save percentage. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 6:28 pm
  • Dallas starts Jake Oettinger on Monday vs. Chicago
The Dallas Stars will start Jake Oettinger on Monday night against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Advice: Oettinger is riding a three-game losing streak (0-2-1). The 22-year-old netminder will come into the game with a 10-8-7 record, a 2.30 goals-against-average and a .914 save percentage. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 4:29 pm
  • Andrei Vasilevskiy starts Monday against Florida
Andrei Vasilevskiy will start Monday night against Florida.

Advice: Vasilevskiy will look to rebound from Saturday's 5-1 loss to the Panthers when he allowed five goals on 35 shots. He has a 31-9-1 record this season with a 2.17 goals-against average and .926 save percentage.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 3:52 pm
  • Semyon Varlamov starts against Bruins
The New York Islanders will start Semyon Varlamov on Monday night against the Boston Bruins.

Advice: Varlamov is coming off back-to-back losses and will be looking to reverse his luck tonight. The Russian netminder has a 19-11-4 record, a 2.02 goals-against-average and a .930 save percentage. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 3:25 pm

  • Cal Petersen expected to play on Monday
Cal Petersen is expected to get another start on Monday night.

Advice: Coach Todd McLellan said there wouldn't be any lineup changes. Petersen is coming off a pair of losses to Colorado, including a 3-2 defeat on Saturday when he stopped 27 shots. He has a 9-17-4 record this season with a 2.82 goals-against average and .914 save percentage in 33 games played.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 12:41 pm
  • Thatcher Demko will start Monday vs. Winnipeg
Thatcher Demko will be between the pipes on Monday against Winnipeg.

Advice: Demko is coming off a 4-3 loss to Edmonton on Saturday when he stopped 30 of 34 shots. He has a 13-17-1 record this season with a 2.96 goals-against average and .911 save percentage in 31 apperances.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 12:27 pm

Advice: Mrazek is coming off a 2-1 overtime loss to Chicago last Thursday when he stopped 25 shots. He has a 6-1-3 record this season with a 1.77 goals-against average and .934 save percentage in 11 games played.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 10:26 am
  • Pekka Rinne starts Monday against Carolina
Pekka Rinne will be in the crease on Monday night versus Carolina.

Advice: Rinne will make his first appearance since April 10, as Juuse Saros has seized control of the No. 1 job in goal for the Predators. Saros will get a break before the playoffs start and Rinne will get the team's regular-season finale. Rinne has a 9-12-1 record this season with a 2.97 goals-against average and .902 save percentage in 23 games played.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 9:55 am
  • Chris Driedger to start on Monday
Chris Driedger will be between the pipes for the Panthers on Monday.

Advice: It has been an outstanding season for Driedger who is 13-6-3 with a 2.17 GAA, and .923 save percentage in 22 contests this season. Driedger could be a Seattle Kraken next season as the Panthers must keep Sergei Bobrovsky on their protected list and if that is the case, he has plenty of value in fantasy drafts next season. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 7:42 am
  • Jake Allen to start against Edmonton
Jake Allen will get the start in net Monday night when the Canadiens host the Edmonton Oilers.

Advice: Allen was supposed to back up Carey Price this season but injuries to Price have made Allen the starter by default for a lot of the season. He has played all but seven periods since April 19 when Price went down and he could be getting tired starting nine of the last 11 contests. He enters the game with an  11-12-4 with a 2.63 goals-against average and .908 save percentage across his 26 starts and 28 appearances overall. Start him if you normally would. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 7:04 am
  • Winnipeg will go with Laurent Brossoit on Monday
Laurent Brossoit will be in the crease on Monday against Vancouver.

Advice: Brossoit was planned to start this contest anyway, but Connor Hellebuyck isn't quite 100 percent so it comes at a good time. Hellebuyck may still serve as the backup goalie on Monday night. Brossoit has a 6-5-0 record this campaign with a 2.36 goals-against average and .920 save percentage in 13 appearances.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Sunday, 11:38 am
  • Tuukka Rask will get the nod on Monday
Tuukka Rask will be in the crease on Monday against the New York Islanders.

Advice: Coach Bruce Cassidy said the plan for the last two games of the regular season is to have Rask play on Monday and Jeremy Swayman start against Washington. He mentioned that could change, but look for the Bruins to go with that rotation. Rask is coming off a 5-4 loss to the New York Rangers on Saturday when he stopped 18 shots. He has a 14-5-2 record this season with a 2.29 goals-against average and .914 save percentage in 23 appearances.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Sunday, 11:09 am
  • Collin Delia to play on Monday night
Collin Delia will get the nod in Monday's season finale against Dallas.

Advice: Delia will get the second half of Chicago's back-to-back situation versus the Stars. Kevin Lankinen will be in goal for Sunday's contest. Monday's match will be Delia's fourth appearance and third start this month after he played in just two games back when the 2020-21 season began in January. He has a 1-3-0 record with a 3.33 goals-against average and .903 save percentage.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Sunday, 10:00 am
  • Jake Allen on the short end in loss to Leafs
Jake Allen allowed three goals on 26 shots in Saturday's 3-2 road loss against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Advice: Allen was actually staked to a 1-0 lead at 3:34 of the first period thanks to Brett Kulak, and Nick Suzuki made it 2-0 in favor of the visitors just 31 seconds into the second period. However, Pierre Engvall, William Nylander and Mitchell Marner rattled off three unanswered goals to close out the second period and that's how things stood after the game. Allen ended up falling to 11-12-4 with a 2.63 goals-against average and .908 save percentage across his 26 starts and 28 appearances overall. NBCSportsEDGE.com Saturday, 10:39 pm
  • Cal Petersen allows 3 goals in loss to Avs on Sat
Cal Petersen allowed three goals on 30 shots during Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Colorado Avalanche.

Advice: The 26-year-old had the pleasure of starting games on consecutive nights against Colorado and he came up with losses in both. Petersen did what he could to keep his team in the game, but the rebuilding Kings are just no match for the high-flying Avs. The Los Angeles netminder has a 9-17-4 record with a 2.82 goals-against-average and a .914 save percentage in 2021.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Saturday, 10:03 pm
  • Thatcher Demko allows 4 goals in loss to Oilers
Thatcher Demko allowed four goals on 34 shots during Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Edmonton Oilers.

Advice: The Canucks were able to keep this game close in the second period, but they simply couldn't stop Connor McDavid (four points) and Leon Draisaitl (two goals) tonight. It's been a rough year for the Canucks, as they went through a lengthy battle with Covid-19. They have a few games to go before their season is over. This team needs to make some significant upgrades if they're going to make the postseason in 2021-22. Demko has a seven of his last eight decisions. The 25-year-old owns a 13-17-1 record with a 2.96 goals-against-average and a .911 save percentage. The numbers don't jump off the page, but he's shown that he can be a number one goalie in the NHL.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Saturday, 9:47 pm
  • Andrei Vasilevskiy allows five goals in road loss
Andrei Vasilevskiy allowed five goals on 35 shots in Saturday's 5-1 road loss against the Florida Panthers.

Advice: Vasilevskiy got off on the wrong foot when Alex Wennberg struck at 11:44 of the first period to open the scoring, and Sam Bennett made it 2-0 early in the second on a power play goal before Tampa got its lone goal. The Panthers led wire-to-wire against Vasilevskiy, perhaps gaining a little bit of confidence ahead of their first-round playoff matchup next week. Vasilevskiy is just 2-3-0 with a 3.23 goals-against average and .904 save percentage in five meetings with Florida this season. NBCSportsEDGE.com Saturday, 9:21 pm
  • Cal Petersen starts against Colorado
The Los Angeles Kings will start Cal Petersen in goal on Saturday night against the Colorado Avalanche.

Advice: With Jonathan Quick sidelined with an upper-body issue, the Kings are handing Petersen starts in back-to-back nights. Petersen will come into the game with a 9-16-4 record, a 2.81 goals-against-average and a .915 save percentage. NBCSportsEDGE.com Saturday, 6:39 pm
  • Tampa starts Andrei Vasilevskiy on Saturday

  • Tuukka Rask falls short versus Rangers Saturday
Tuukka Rask stopped 18 of 23 shots in a 5-4 loss to the Rangers Saturday afternoon.

Advice: Most of the damage came in the third period when Rask allowed four goals on 11 shots. His three-game winning streak came to an end as a result of Saturday's defeat. NBCSportsEDGE.com Saturday, 3:02 pm
  • Thatcher Demko will start on Saturday
Thatcher Demko will play between the pipes Saturday night.

Advice: Demko has allowed at least three goals in each of his last four starts. He has a 13-16-1 record, 2.92 GAA, and .912 save percentage in 30 contests this season. NBCSportsEDGE.com Saturday, 11:34 am
  • Jake Allen will get the nod on Saturday
Jake Allen is expected to start Saturday night.

Advice: Allen stopped 29 of 34 shots in a 5-1 loss to Ottawa on Wednesday. He has an 11-11-4 record, 2.62 GAA, and .909 save percentage in 27 contests this season. NBCSportsEDGE.com Saturday, 9:16 am
  • Philipp Grubauer makes 15 saves in win over Kings
Philipp Grubauer made 15 saves during Friday's 3-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings.

Advice: Grubauer did not face much pressure in this game, having to deal with a total of 17 shots. He did, however, allow two goals on those 17 shots and posted a save percentage of .882 in this matchup. Despite coming out of this game with a win, Grubauer did not post his best individual performance and will need to ensure that he puts his best foot forward every night with playoffs approaching. Regardless, his record does improve after this victory to 28-9-1. He has the second-most wins out of all the netminders in the league. NBCSportsEDGE.com Friday, 10:57 pm
  • Cal Petersen makes 34 saves in loss to COL
Cal Petersen made 34 saves in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Colorado Avalanche.

Advice: Petersen allowed three goals on a total of 27 shots and posted a save percentage of .919 in this matchup. He had a very solid individual night in this game. He gave up one goal on the Colorado power play in the first, and then two more in the second. He kept the Avalanche at bay in the third and gave his team a chance to at least come within one. The Avalanche heavily outshot the Kings by 20 shots and Petersen's performance was the only reason this game was as close as it was. As the end of the season nears for the Kings, Petersen is certainly a player to keep an eye on because he has showcased this year that he has the potential to develop into a solid starting goalie. NBCSportsEDGE.com Friday, 10:44 pm
  • Robin Lehner makes 22 saves in OT win vs. STL
Robin Lehner made 22 saves during Friday's 4-3 OT win over the St. Louis Blues.

Advice: Lehner allowed three goals on 25 shots and finished his night with a .880 save percentage. Despite coming out of this game with a win, this was a far from ideal night for Lehner. He allowed a short-handed goal in the first period, and then in the second he allowed two goals within two minutes. Vegas clearly outshot St. Louis in this game so the score should not have been as close as it was. With playoffs just around the corner, Lehner will have to ensure that he has sharp performances in every appearance if he wants to compete for ice time with Marc-Andre Fleury, who has a plethora of playoff experience under his belt. NBCSportsEDGE.com Friday, 10:30 pm
  • Jordan Binnington makes 31 saves in OT loss to VGK
Jordan Binnington made 31 saves during Friday's 4-3 OT loss to the Vegas Golden Knights.

Advice: Binnington allowed a total of four goals on 35 shots and finished his night with a .886 save percentage. It was not the best night for Binnington, but he still helped his team come out with at least a point. This helped the Blues secure a playoff spot. Binnington's record now sits at 16-4-8. The 27-year-old netminder is now currently riding back-to-back overtime losses. NBCSportsEDGE.com Friday, 10:18 pm
  • Cal Petersen given the start Friday vs. Colorado
The Los Angeles Kings will start Cal Petersen on Friday night against the Colorado Avalanche.

Advice: Petersen's win on Wednesday night snapped a four-game losing skid but the 26-year-old will be in tough against a stacked Avalanche squad that will however be without Nathan MacKinnon (lower body). Petersen has shown potential as a goaltender for the Kings this season. He'll come into the game with a 9-15-4 record, a 2.80 goals-against-average and a .915 save percentage. NBCSportsEDGE.com Friday, 6:42 pm
  • Colorado starts Philipp Grubauer on Friday night
The Colorado Avalanche will start Philipp Grubauer on Friday night against the Los Angeles Kings.

Advice: Grubauer has been fantastic for the most part of the season. The 29-year-old goaltender will be looking to bounce back from Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the Sharks and will come into tonight's game with a 27-9-1 record, a 2.03 goals-against-average and a .920 save percentage. He's a must-start. NBCSportsEDGE.com Friday, 6:37 pm
  • Jordan Binnington starts Friday against Vegas
Jordan Binnington will be in the crease on Friday against Vegas.

Advice: Binnington is coming off a 3-2 shootout loss to Anaheim on Wednesday when he stopped 33 of 35 shots. He has a 16-14-7 record this season with a 2.65 goals-against average and .911 save percentage in 39 appearances.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Friday, 2:49 pm
  • Robin Lehner in line to start Friday night
Robin Lehner was the first goalie off the ice at the morning skate, which puts him in line to play on Friday night against St. Louis.

Advice: Lehner will be looking to rebound from Monday's loss to Minnesota when he allowed six goals on 32 shots. He has a 12-3-2 record this season with a 2.27 goals-against average and .915 save percentage in 17 games played.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Friday, 12:10 pm
  • Thatcher Demko makes 39 saves in win over Oilers
Thatcher Demko made 39 saves during Thursday's 6-3 win over the Edmonton Oilers.

Advice: Demko allowed three goals on 42 shots and finished his night with a .929 save percentage. He put up a solid effort in this game against the dynamic Oilers to help his team come out with a win. This boosts his record to 13-16-1. This was a much-needed win for the 25-year-old, who breaks a six-game losing streak with this victory. Prior to this game, Demko also had posted save percentages below .900 in three consecutive games. This was another thing that Demko turned around tonight.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Thursday, 9:21 pm
  • Collin Delia allows only one goal in OT win
Collin Delia made 36 saves during Thursday's 2-1 OT victory over the Carolina Hurricanes.

Advice: Delia gave up a short-handed goal in the first, but after that he put on an incredibly solid performance to help his team secure a comeback victory. This was Delia's first win of the season. The Hurricanes outshot the Blackhawks in this matchup. However, Delia was a difference maker in this game, as he made 36 saves on 37 shots and posted a save percentage of .973. This win boosts his record to 1-3-0. This game was by far his best performance in net this season. NBCSportsEDGE.com Thursday, 7:51 pm
  • Petr Mrazek makes 25 saves in OT loss to CHI
Petr Mrazek made 25 saves during Thursday's 2-1 OT loss to the Chicago Blackhawks.

Advice: Mrazek had a great start to the game, as he did not allow a single goal until there was just about three minutes left in regulation. In overtime, he could not hold on, but he did help his team come out of this game with a point. Throughout the game he made 25 saves on 27 shots and posted a save percentage of .926. Mrazek's record now sits at 6-1-3. The 29-year-old netminder has not picked up a regulation loss since his return to the Hurricanes roster. NBCSportsEDGE.com Thursday, 7:25 pm
  • Semyon Varlamov allows 2 goals in loss to Devils
Semyon Varlamov allowed two goals on 25 shots in Thursday's 2-1 loss to the New Jersey Devils.

Advice: Varlamov has given up just five goals in his last five games, but he has just two victories to show for it. The Islanders never held the lead in this game, as they trailed 1-0 and 2-1 and were never able to recover. The veteran netminder has a 19-11-4 record with a 2.02 goals-against-average and a .930 save percentage this season. The Isles can certainly keep the puck out of their own net, but it'll be interesting to see if they can score enough to win a playoff series or two.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Thursday, 7:14 pm
  • Semyon Varlamov starts against Devils
The New York Islanders will start Semyon Varlamov on Thursday night against the New Jersey Devils.

  • Collin Delia hasn't gotten to play much in 2020-21
Although the season started with Collin Delia having an opportunity to become Chicago's number one goaltender, he ultimately played rarely in 2020-21.

Advice: Delia started for Chicago on Jan. 13 and 17, but he didn't get into another NHL game until May. Meanwhile he played in just four AHL contests all season. In other words, most of the season he's been doing his best to try to stay fresh in practices while he waits for his next opportunity. "It’s been challenging, but you’ve got to be thankful for the opportunity to even be in this situation to begin with," Delia said. "I’m very thankful to be a part of the organization and I’m thankful to compete and work with some amazing individuals every day. Although it has been challenging, it’s also super gratifying to be here and to be part of such a great organization." Next season we might see fewer situations like this because the presumed removal of the taxi squad will result in goaltenders and certain players not being in a limbo position of playing in neither the NHL or AHL. • Cal Petersen, Kings double up Coyotes in desert
Cal Petersen allowed two goals on 30 shots in Wednesday's 4-2 road win against the Arizona Coyotes.

Advice: Petersen improved to 9-15-4 with a 2.80 goals-against average and .915 save percentage across his 28 starts and 31 appearances overall. He atoned for a loss in Anaheim on Saturday when he was slapped around for six goals on 33 shots in a 6-2 loss. It was actually his first win in six starts since April 20, also against the Ducks. The Kings are back at it Friday night against the Colorado Avalanche. NBCSportsEDGE.com Wednesday, 10:17 pm
  • Philipp Grubauer makes 30 saves in road loss
Philipp Grubauer allowed three goals on 33 shots in Wednesday's 3-2 road loss against the San Jose Sharks.

Advice: Grubauer slipped to 27-9-1 with a 2.03 goals-against average and .920 save percentage across his 36 starts and one relief appearance. The 29-year-old lost for the first time since April 7, a span of four starts and a stretch on the COVID list. He had topped the Sharks in each of his past two starts, so the third time was a charm for the Sharks in the finale of this four-game set against the Avs. Grubauer and the Avalanche will look to bounce back Friday night at Staples Center against the Kings. NBCSportsEDGE.com Wednesday, 9:44 pm
  • Jordan Binnington makes 33 saves in SO loss to ANA

He had an overall good individual performance in this matchup. His record now sits at 16-14-7. Binnington has not picked up a regulation loss in his past six appearances. The Blues are currently in the fourth and final playoff spot in their division, so every point is important at this stage. NBCSportsEDGE.com Wednesday, 8:05 pm
  • Jake Oettinger allows 4 goals in loss to Bolts
Jake Oettinger allowed four goals on 18 shots in Wednesday's 6-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Advice: This will be a tough loss for the Stars to digest, as they're still chasing Nashville for the final playoff spot in the division. The game was tied, 1-1, after the opening frame but the Stars never recovered after allowing a pair of goals to Alex Killorn (power play) and Brayden Point in the second. Oettinger has a 10-8-7 record with a 2.30 goals-against-average and a .914 save percentage this season. He's dropped each of his last three decisions.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Wednesday, 7:24 pm
  • Andrei Vasilevskiy makes 20 saves in win over DAL
Andrei Vasilevskiy turned aside 20 of 22 shots in Wednesday's 6-2 win over the Dallas Stars.

Advice: This was a repeat of last year's Stanley Cup Final and the defending champions came out on top again. The score was tied, 1-1, heading into the second period, but the Bolts found a way to pull ahead and not look back. Vasilevskiy has now won four games in a row. He has a 31-8-1 record with a 2.10 goals-against-average and a .928 save percentage this season. Beating him four times in a seven-game series won't be easy.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Wednesday, 7:21 pm
  • Canadiens get lit up by Senators on Wednesday
Jake Allen allowed five goals on 34 shots in Wednesday's 5-1 loss to the Ottawa Senators.

Advice: It's tough to blame Allen for the way this game went, as the Canadiens' defensive-zone coverage was abysmal in this game. It'll be interesting to see whether or not The Habs go back to Allen for tomorrow's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The 30-year-old has an 11-11-4 record with a 2.65 goals-against-average and a .908 save percentage in 2021. The Habs will make the playoffs, but they dropped six of 10 games to the Sens this season.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Wednesday, 7:05 pm
  • Cal Petersen starts against Coyotes
The Los Angeles Kings will start Cal Petersen on Wednesday night against the Arizona Coyotes.

Petersen will come into tonight's game looking to snap a four-game losing skid. He owns a 8-15-4 record, a 2.86 goals-against-average and a .914 save percentage. NBCSportsEDGE.com Wednesday, 6:27 pm
  • Philipp Grubauer to start against Sharks

  • Dallas will turn to Jake Oettinger on Wednesday
Jake Oettinger will be in the crease on Wednesday night against Tampa Bay.

He has a 10-7-7 record this season with a 2.23 goals-against average and .918 save percentage in 27 games played.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Wednesday, 9:28 am
  • Andrei Vasilevskiy to start Wednesday
Coach Jon Cooper says that Andrei Vasilevskiy will be between the pipes Wednesday when the Lightning face the Dallas Stars.

Advice: Vasilevskiy got a rare weekend off as Tampa Bay went with Curtis McElhinney and Christopher Gibson in a pair of games against Detroit but with the playoffs on the horizon, it's time to get back to the basics for the Lightning. Vasilevskiy has a  30-8-1 record with a 2.10 goals-against-average and a .929 save percentage which should be good enough to win another Vezina Trophy. NBCSportsEDGE.com Wednesday, 7:27 am
  • Jake Allen to start Wednesday versus Ottawa
Jake Allen will get the start in goal for Montreal Wednesday.

Advice: The Canadiens take on the Ottawa Senators. Allen, who is coming off a 27 save performance in a 3-2 overtime win over Toronto, has played well in place of the injured Carey Price and enters the game with an 11-10-4 mark to go with a 2.55 and a .910 save percentage. Start him on Wednesday if you are still in the playoffs. NBCSportsEDGE.com Wednesday, 4:16 am

He has lost six consecutive starts since March 19 in Montreal, and he hasn't picked up a win in regulation since March 13, a span of nine outings. It's no surprise we've seen a lot more from Braden Holtby lately, as he has been able to get into the win column more regularly than Demko. The Canucks are back at it on the road in Edmonton on Thursday. NBCSportsEDGE.com Tuesday, 10:04 pm
  • Collin Delia allows 4 goals in loss to Hurricanes

Delia now has an 0-3-0 record with a 4.04 goals-against-average and a .881 save percentage in 2021. He's nothing more than a depth goalie at this stage of his career.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Tuesday, 8:06 pm
  • Petr Mrazek wins first game back from injury
Petr Mrazek allowed three goals on 30 shots during Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Blackhawks.

Advice: Grubauer fell behind 3-1, and he was down 4-2 after just 3:32 of the third period. But Gabriel Landeskog and Nazem Kadri bailed him out with two third-period goals, and Andre Burakovsky provided the game-winning tally to help Grubauer move to 27-8-1 with a 2.00 goals-against average and .920 save percentage with six shutouts across 35 starts and one relief appearance. NBCSportsEDGE.com Monday, 11:36 pm
  • Cal Petersen comes on in relief, preserves win
Cal Petersen was thrust into action to start the third period against the Arizona Coyotes Monday.

Advice: Petersen was initially getting the night off, but Jonathan Quick suffered an undisclosed upper-body injury and was unable to continue after the second intermission. Petersen came on with the Kings up 3-2, and that's how the game ended, as he stopped all 15 shots he faced. If this were fantasy baseball, he would get a save. Thankfully, it's hockey, which is obviously much better. Petersen figures to start Wednesday's rematch in Arizona, regardless of Quick's status, but he could do some heavy lifting to close out the regular season if Quick requires more time to heal. NBCSportsEDGE.com Monday, 10:35 pm
  • Jordan Binnington makes 19 saves in win over ANA
Jordan Binnington made 19 saves during Monday's 3-1 win over the Anaheim Ducks.

Advice: It looked like the Golden Knights were going to win this game, as they were up by a goal with under two minutes remaining in the third period. But things got interesting when Wild rookie Kirill Kaprizov tied the game, 5-5, with 1:32 remaining. Minnesota defender Jonas Brodin then gave the Wild a 6-5 lead just 26 seconds later. Lehner owns a 12-3-2 record with a 2.27 goals-against-average and a .915 save percentage in 2021.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Monday, 9:17 pm

During Oettinger's ice time of 42:05, he allowed only one goal on 28 shots. Oettinger's performance kept the Panthers at bay during regulation and gave his team the opportunity to stage a comeback and force additional minutes. He let in his sole goal of the night during overtime on the Florida power play. After this game Oettinger's record now sits at 10-7-7. NBCSportsEDGE.com Monday, 9:07 pm
  • Jets drop seventh game in a row on Monday
Laurent Brossoit allowed two goals on 18 shots in Monday's 2-1 loss to the Ottawa Senators.

Advice: Brossoit failed to cover the puck when it was close to him late in the game and Sens defenseman Nikita Zaitsev ripped a shot into the Winnipeg net just a few seconds later. The Jets didn't lose this game because of goaltending though. Winnipeg failed to convert on all six of their power play opportunities while the Sens scored a shorthanded goal, and that ended up being the difference in the game. Brossoit has a 6-5-0 record with a 2.36 goals-against-average and a .920 save percentage this season. The Jets have now dropped seven games in a row. There has to be legitimate concern around this team right now.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Monday, 9:01 pm

Advice: Grubauer will be going for his third straight win. He has a 26-8-1 record, 1.94 GAA, and .922 save percentage in 35 contests this season. NBCSportsEDGE.com Monday, 7:21 pm
  • Semyon Varlamov breaks shutout streak with loss
Semyon Varlamov ended his three-game shutout streak after Monday's 4-2 loss to the Buffalo Sabres.

Advice: Varlamov had been riding some serious momentum as of late. In addition to entering this game with an impressive three consecutive shutouts, Varlamov also had not posted a regulation loss in his past four appearances. All of that came to an end when he gave up three goals to the Sabres on 39 shots in this matchup. He posted a save percentage of .923 in this game. Despite picking up a loss to the last team in the East standings, Varlamov still managed to post a single-game save percentage above .900, as he has done in his past eight appearances. This loss, however, drops his record to 19-10-4. NBCSportsEDGE.com Monday, 7:15 pm

Tuukka Rask stopped all 20 shots he faced during Monday's 3-0 win over the New Jersey Devils.

He's also given up two goals or fewer in four of those six outings. The 34-year-old owns a 14-4-2 record with a 2.16 goals-against-average and a .919 save percentage in 2021. Jake Allen turned aside 27 of 29 shots in Monday's 3-2 OT win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Advice: Allen made several important saves during regulation when his team was trailing by a goal, but the Canadiens were still trailing 2-1 late in regulation. Phillip Danault added the game-tying goal in the final minute and Cole Caufield scored the winner in overtime. Allen has been locked in over the last few weeks while Carey Price has missed time due to injury. He now has an 11-10-4 record in his first year with the Habs.
