Andersen turned aside 20 of 21 shots in Monday's 4-1 win over the Rangers in Game 5.

Advice: With the Hurricanes on the brink of elimination at Madison Square Garden, Andersen put forth a solid effort against New York. The 34-year-old did not face a heavy workload, as Carolina played with more structure in front of the goaltender. It was only the second time in Andersen's nine starts this postseason that he's allowed less than two goals in a game. Carolina will need the veteran to be at his best again Thursday in Game 6 against the Rangers. Andersen is 6-3 with a 2.46 GAA and a .902 save percentage during the playoffs. • Stellar in Game 4
Johnston scored two goals on eight shots, added an assist and went plus-2 in Monday's 5-1 win over the Avalanche in Game 4.

Advice: Johnston opened the scoring with a shorthanded goal on a rebound in the first period. He added a power-play marker in the second and set up Sam Steel's empty-netter in the third. Johnston had been held off the scoresheet in the previous two games. That hasn't stopped him from looking like a standout for the Stars with seven goals, four assists, 39 shots on net and a plus-2 rating over 11 playoff appearances. If Roope Hintz (upper body) misses time, Johnston could be a natural fit to take his spot on the top line. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 12:04 am

    • Guarding crease Monday
Shesterkin will get the starting nod for Game 5 at home against the Hurricanes, Colin Stephenson of Newsday reports.

Advice: Shesterkin was riding a seven-game winning streak to begin the playoffs before Carolina finally beat him in Game 4 on Saturday. He allowed four goals on 31 shots in the loss, the first time this postseason he's allowed more than three. He's registered an impressive .925 save percentage while facing 160 shots this series. • First goalie off Monday
Andersen was the first goalie to leave the ice Monday, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports, indicating he'll be in goal on the road for Game 5 against the Rangers.

Advice: Andersen was almost certainly going to get the start after helping the team stave off elimination by stopping 22 of 25 shots in Game 4. Still, the veteran netminder is sporting a lackluster .874 save percentage over his last four appearances. At this point, if Andersen can extend the series again, he should remain between the pipes heading into Game 6. Rotowire.com Monday, 8:24 am
    • Scores game-winning goal
Barkov scored his fifth goal of the postseason in Sunday's 3-2 win over Boston in Game 4.

Advice: Barkov scored the game-winning goal Sunday in Boston to help the Panthers get within one win of advancing to the third round of the postseason. The Finnish superstar diced through the middle of the ice before beating Jeremy Swayman under his right arm almost midway through the third period. The goal extended Barkov's point streak to five games -- he has 11 points over that span. Florida's captain is leading the team in scoring so far this postseason with 13 points in nine games to go along with a plus-4 rating. Rotowire.com May 12, 8:19 pm
