He allowed one goal near the end of the first period and then one additional goal just over five minutes into the third. His season record now improves to 3-1-1. He has a save percentage of .924 and a GAA of 2.53. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 11:13 pm

Bo Horvat secured a pair of goals during Saturday's 4-2 win over the Seattle Kraken.

Advice: Horvat's first goal of the night came 11:09 into the second period to tie the game up 1-1. Later in the third, Horvat scored on the power play to once again even the score in this matchup, this time at 2-2. Horvat's performance helped his team secure a win in Seattle and bumped his goal total up to three on the year. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 11:09 pm
  • Philipp Grubauer allows three goals in loss to VAN
Philipp Grubauer allowed three goals during Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Vancouver Canucks.

Advice: Grubauer made 22 saves on 25 shots to end his night with a save percentage of .880. He had a good start to the game, but then gave up two goals in just over three minutes the third. This sealed a loss for Seattle. Grubauer's record now drops to 1-3-1. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 11:06 pm
  • Vince Dunn scores first goal in Climate Pledge
Vince Dunn scored the first goal in Climate Pledge Arena during Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Vancouver Canucks.

Advice: Dunn was the first player to find the back of the net during the home opener for the Seattle Kraken in their inaugural season. His goal was scored with four seconds left in the first period. The goal was assisted by Adam Larsson and Joonas Donskoi. This was Dunn's first goal of the season. He now has two assists and one goal in four games played. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 10:29 pm
  • Trocheck scores twice, adds assist in strong win
Vincent Trocheck scored two goals and assisted on another in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Advice: Trocheck's goals came against Joonas Korpisalo in the first and third periods. In between those two scoring jaunts, he also chipped in with an assist on Sebastian Aho's third period goal. Coming off a 17-goal, 43-point performance during the past campaign, Trocheck has five points in four games in the early going this season. All five of those points have come in his last two games.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 9:41 pm
  • Boone Jenner manages goal in loss to Hurricanes
Boone Jenner scored a goal in Saturday's 5-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes.

Advice: Jenner found net against Frederik Andersen midway through the second period, but that would be all the offense the Blue Jackets would manage in the 5-1 defeat. The 28-year-old forward has scored in three consecutive contests and four-of-five on the young season. He is already halfway home to the eight goals he scored in 41 games last season. Not much in the way of fantasy upside, here, but a nice start for Jenner nonetheless. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 9:37 pm

  • Frederik Andersen surrenders just one goal in win
Frederik Andersen stopped 28-of-29 shots in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Advice: Fantastic work by Andersen on Saturday night. Only a Boone Jenner power-play goal in the second period prevented the veteran netminder from a shutout performance. With the win against the Blue Jackets, Andersen improved to 4-0 on the young season. He has turned in one-goal-allowed performances in each of his last two starts. The Maple Leafs show next on Carolina's schedule. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 9:33 pm
  • Korpisalo erased for five goals against Carolina
Joonas Korpisalo yielded five goals on 33 shots in Saturday's 5-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes.

Advice: Korpisalo was rocked for two goals in the first period (Jesper Fast, Vincent Trocheck), one in the second (Jordan Staal) and two more in the third (Sebastian Aho, Trocheck again) in what was a dismal performance throughout. The 27-year-old goalie is trying to improve on a 2020-21 season in which he posted a 3.30 GAA to go with an .894 save percentage in 33 games. Showings like Saturday's aren't going to aid in that endeavor. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 9:29 pm
  • Stastny scores two goals in win over Predators
Paul Stastny scored two goals in Saturday's 6-4 win over the Nashville Predators.

Advice: Stastny led the way on offense for the Jets on Saturday evening, picking up his first goal against Juuse Saros on an early power-play in the second period before putting home his second goal of the contest (again versus Saros) just after the start of the third period. Stastny's goals in this one were his first of the 2021-22 campaign. The veteran forward is now up to five points through his first five games of the season. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 9:24 pm

  • Karel Vejmelka makes 21 saves in 3-0 loss to Isles
Karel Vejmelka made 21 saves during Saturday's 3-0 loss to the New York Islanders.

Advice: Vejmelka allowed three goals on a total of 24 shots to end his night with a save percentage of .875. Vejmelka gave up a goal in each period of play, including a power play goal in the second. He has yet to win a game so far this season. The 25-year-old netminder now has a record of 0-2-1. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 9:20 pm
  • Tom Novak dishes out three assists in defeat
Tom Novak assisted on three goals in Saturday's 6-4 loss to the Winnipeg Jets.

Advice: Novak assisted on a second-period goal by Nick Cousins, then notched two more helpers in the third period on scores by Roman Josi and Philip Tomasino. While the Predators managed four goals on the evening, not much you can do when your goalie is giving up six of them. Novak's three assists on Saturday represented his first three points of the 2021-22 campaign. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 9:20 pm
  • Connor Hellebuyck earns win despite rocky showing
Connor Hellebuyck yielded four goals on 30 shots in Saturday's 6-4 win over the Nashville Predators.

Advice: Hellebuyck was not exactly on the money in this one, but he benefitted from the fact that Juuse Saros (six goals) was just a little bit worse. Nashville creeped to within 6-4 on the scoreboard just past the halfway point of the third period, but would manage no further offensive action through to the end of the game. The 28-year-old Hellebuyck has been somewhat brutal in the early going this season, surrendering at least four goals in all but one of his five starts to date. A date with Anaheim shows next on Winnipeg's schedule. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 9:14 pm
  • Juuse Saros thumped for six goals in loss to Jets
Juuse Saros allowed six goals on 29 shots in Saturday's 6-4 loss to the Winnipeg Jets.

Advice: Saros was absolutely ripped apart in this one, surrendering goals to Adam Lowry, Pierre-Luc Dubois, Paul Stastny (twice), Kristian Vesalainen and Kyle Connor as the evening wore on. The 26-year-old netminder had not allowed more than two goals in any of his previous three starts prior to being pulverized on Saturday. Nashville will skate against the Wild on Sunday to complete this weekend back-to-back.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 9:10 pm
  • Nathan MacKinnon scores first goal of season
Nathan MacKinnon scored a goal and assisted on two others in Saturday's 4-3 shootout win over the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Advice: MacKinnon had failed to put home a goal in either of his first two games before remedying that deficit in Saturday's contest, coming through with a third-period goal against Andrei Vasilevskiy to give the Avalanche 3-2 lead (the game would ultimately go to shootout after Brayden Point tied things up near the end of regulation). Prior to that late goal, MacKinnon had also notched a pair of assists on scores by Gabriel Landeskog and Mikko Rantanen in the first and second periods, respectively. MacKinnon was held out of Colorado's first two games after a positive COVID test, but now that he is back in action, he figures to get rolling soon enough. Saturday's showing was a sharp one. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 9:04 pm
  • Ilya Sorokin posts a 26-save shutout vs. Coyotes
Ilya Sorokin posted a shutout during Saturday's 3-0 win over the Arizona Coyotes.

Advice: Sorokin stopped all of the 26 shots he faced throughout this game to help the Islanders come out of this matchup with a win. He did not face intense pressure throughout the night, but nonetheless posted a solid performance that earned him his first shutout of the year. His record now improves to 2-2-1. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 8:59 pm
  • Juuse Saros will be between the pipes for NSH
Juuse Saros will be between the pipes for the Predators during Saturday’s game against the Winnipeg Jets.

Advice: So far this season Saros has a record of 1-3-0. Through his first four games he has posted a save percentage of .928 and a GAA of 2.05. He is coming off a loss against the Rangers back on October 21st, during which he made 27 saves on 29 shots. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 3:40 pm
  • Philipp Grubauer is likely to start on Saturday
Philipp Grubauer will probably start on Saturday.

Advice: Grubauer was the first goaltender off the ice following the morning skate and that's usually a good way of determining who will be the starter. Grubauer has a 1-2-1 record, 4.01 GAA, and .867 save percentage in four games this season. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 2:19 pm
  • Connor Hellebuyck will get the nod on Saturday
Connor Hellebuyck is expected to start Saturday night.

Advice: Hellebuyck will try to build off his 38-save 5-1 victory over Anaheim on Thursday. He has a 1-2-1 record, 3.75 GAA, and .890 save percentage in four contests this season. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 2:07 pm
  • Thatcher Demko is likely to start on Saturday
Thatcher Demko will probably play between the pipes on Saturday.

Advice: Demko was the first goaltender off the ice following the morning skate, which is usually a good indicator of who the starter will be. He has a 2-1-1 record, 2.66 GAA, and .922 save percentage in four contests this season. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 12:18 pm
  • Ilya Sorokin is expected to start on Saturday
Ilya Sorokin will start for the Islanders on Saturday.

Advice: It remains to be seen who will start on Sunday, but Semyon Varlamov isn't an option so there's at least a chance Sorokin will end up playing in back-to-back games. Sorokin has a 1-2-1 record, 3.50 GAA, and .901 save percentage in four games this season. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 10:23 am
  • Canes will stick with Frederik Andersen Saturday
Carolina will go with Frederik Andersen in net on Saturday.

Advice: No reason to change what's working. Andersen has gotten off to a fantastic start with the Hurricanes, posting a 3-0-0 record, 2.00 GAA, and .938 save percentage in three starts. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 9:27 am
  • Joonas Korpisalo to tend the Columbus net Saturday
Look for Joonas Korpisalo to get the start in goal for Columbus Saturday when they face the Carolina Hurricanes.

Advice: Korpisalo has played only once while Elvis Merzlikins has been in goal for three starts in the early going. Korpisalo was strong in his opener, stopping 41-of-43 shots in a 4-1 loss to Detroit as the Red Wings potted a pair of empty net goals. Play him if you normally would. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 7:54 am
  • Karel Vejmelka will start Saturday vs. Islanders
Karel Vejmelka will be in goal for Arizona on Saturday against the New York Islanders.

Advice: Vejmelka will get a second straight start after he surrendered five goals on 31 shots to Edmonton on Thursday in a 5-1 loss. In three appearances this year, which includes two starts, he has a 0-1-1 record with a 2.82 goals-against average and .908 save percentage.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Friday, 12:48 pm
  • Karel Vejmelka struggles in loss vs. Oilers
Karel Vejmelka allowed five goals in Thursday's 5-1 loss to the Edmonton Oilers

Advice: Vejmelka was put into a tough position against Connor McDavid and the Oilers. Edmonton's captain beat the 25-year-old goaltender twice and set up another goal in what was another route of the Arizona Coyotes. Neither Vejmelka nor Carter Hutton be on any fantasy team except if a manager is in a dire goaltending situation. Vejmelka owns a 0-1-1 record with a 2.82 goals-against average and .908 save percentage. NBCSportsEDGE.com Thursday, 9:55 pm
  • Thatcher Demko makes 29 saves in win over Chicago
Thatcher Demko turned aside 29-of-30 shots faced in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Chicago Blackhawks

Advice: Demko was the main reason why the Canucks came away with the victory on Thursday as he had a nice bounce-back performance after Tuesday's loss in Buffalo. After allowing a power-play goal off of Alex DeBrincat's stick, Demko shut the door for the rest of the night including six saves on Patrick Kane alone. The 25-year-old owns a 2-1-1 with a 2.66 goals-against average and .922 save percentage on the season. NBCSportsEDGE.com Thursday, 9:24 pm
  • Connor Hellebuyck makes 38 stops in win over Ducks
Connor Hellebuyck turned aside 38-of-39 shots in Thursday's 5-1 win over the Anaheim Ducks

Advice: Hellebuyck was peppered with rubber from beginning to end of Thursday's win against the Ducks. He allowed an early goal to Troy Terry off of a beautiful deflection but was not beat another time after that. Hellebuyck made some incredible saves in the second period to preserve his team's 2-1 lead that ultimately cleared the way for them to pull ahead in the third frame. Hellebuyck owns a 1-2-1 record with a 3.75 goals-against average and a .890 save percentage. NBCSportsEDGE.com Thursday, 8:49 pm
  • Juuse Saros gives up 2 goals in loss to NYR
Juuse Saros allowed two goals on 29 shots during Thursday's 3-1 loss to the New York Rangers.

Advice: Saros made some key saves to keep the Preds in the game, but they didn't create enough offense to bail him out. The 26-year-old has given up two goals or fewer in three of his four outings this season, but he has just one win to show for it. He owns a 1-3-0 record with a 2.05 goals-against-average and a .928 save percentage in 2021-22.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Thursday, 8:30 pm
  • Ilya Sorokin allows 3 goals in OTL to CBJ
Ilya Sorokin allowed three goals on 32 shots during Thursday's 3-2 OT loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Advice: Sorokin had no shot of stopping Patrik Laine's OT winner, as the Blue Jackets forward ripped a shot blocker-side on the Isles netminder. Sorokin is off to a bit of a difficult start. He's given up at least three goals in four of his five outings and he'll head into his next start with a 1-2-1 record. He owns a 3.50 goals-against-average and a .901 save percentage.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Thursday, 7:54 pm
  • Frederik Andersen allows 1 goal in win vs. Habs
Frederik Andersen stopped 27 of 28 shots during Thursday's 4-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens.

Advice: Andersen didn't have to be great in this game, but he still managed to play pretty well. He made an impressive save on Habs forward Brendan Gallagher when the score was 3-1 in the third frame. The only goal Montreal scored (Tyler Toffoli) came on the power play. Andersen has a 3-0-0 record with a 2.00 goals-against-average and a .938 save percentage this season. He's a must-start whenever he's between the pipes for Carolina.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Thursday, 7:16 pm
  • Juuse Saros will be in the crease vs. Rangers
Juuse Saros will man the crease during Thursday's game against the New York Rangers.

Advice: Saros led his team out onto the ice for warmups, indicating that he will secure the start in this matchup. Saros has started in net for all of Nashville's games to kick off this season. He has one win and two losses so far this year, and is sitting on a save percentage of .927. His season GAA is currently at 2.03. Saros is entering this game after securing his first win of the season on October 19th against the Los Angeles Kings. NBCSportsEDGE.com Thursday, 4:39 pm
  • Frederik Andersen slated to play Thursday
Frederik Andersen is expected to start on Thursday night against Montreal.

Advice: Andersen appeared to be the started based on the morning skate. He has a 2-0-0 record this season with a 2.50 goals-against average and .926 save percentage.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Thursday, 12:08 pm
  • Thatcher Demko will start Thursday vs. Chicago

Advice: Demko will be looking to bounce back after he allowed four goals on 42 shots to Buffalo in a 5-2 loss on Tuesday. He has a 1-1-1 record this year with a 3.18 goals-against average and .910 save percentage.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Thursday, 11:09 am
  • Ilya Sorokin poised to play again on Thursday

  • Connor Hellebuyck to start on Thursday night
Connor Hellebuyck will get the nod on Thursday against Anaheim.

Advice: Hellebuyck went through his normal routine during the morning skate and he was the first goalie off the ice, so he is expected to make a fourth straight start. He has been cold out of the gate this season with a mark of 0-2-1 to go with a 4.66 GAA and .856 SV%.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Thursday, 10:30 am
  • Coyotes will turn to Karel Vejmelka on Thursday
Karel Vejmelka will be between the pipes on Thursday night against Edmonton.

Advice: Vejmelka stopped 32 of 33 shots in last Saturday's 2-1 shootout loss to Buffalo. He also made 11 saves on 12 shots in relief on Monday versus St. Louis. Carter Hutton has struggled mightily in two starts this season, so Vejmelka could find himself in a position to see more action if he has another strong showing. However, playing against the offensive stars of the Oilers will be a difficult matchup. NBCSportsEDGE.com Wednesday, 1:30 pm
  • Nathan MacKinnon struggles in return to lineup
Nathan MacKinnon struggled in his return to the Avalanche's lineup on Tuesday.

Advice: MacKinnon missed the Avalanche's first two games because he had COVID and was consequently in the NHL's protocol. “It impacted him immensely,” Avalanche coach Jared Bednar said of MacKinnon’s eight-day quarantine. “The competitive part of the game was missing from that line tonight and Nate was part of that. They just weren’t good enough and it wasn’t just them. It was our whole team.” MacKinnon did register an assist, but he was also minus-five in the Avalanche's 6-3 loss to Washington. NBCSportsEDGE.com Wednesday, 3:20 am
  • Juuse Saros stops 25 shots in win over Kings
Juuse Saros stopped 25-of-26 shots in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings.

Advice: Saros had a very solid outing against the Kings. He only allowed a single goal on a beautiful snipe by Anze Kopitar. Saros' best save of the night came at the beginning of the second period when he shut the door on Rasmus Kupari with his pad to keep the game scoreless at that point. The 26-year-old owns a 1-2-0 record with a 2.03 goals-against average and .927 save percentage. NBCSportsEDGE.com Tuesday, 10:10 pm
  • Ilya Sorokin makes 39 saves in win over Chicago
Ilya Sorokin turned aside 39-of-40 shots in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Chicago Blackhawks.

Advice: After a couple of rough starts prior to Tuesday night, Sorokin bounced back in spectacular fashion. He was an impenetrable wall all night, but his defense fell asleep in the dying moments of the game and Mackenzie Entwistle ruined his shutout bid. Sorokin owns a 1-2-0 record with a 3.71 goals-against average and a .899 save percentage. NBCSportsEDGE.com Tuesday, 9:38 pm
  • Connor Hellebuyck rocked for six goals in OT loss
Connor Hellebuyck surrendered six goals on in Tuesday's 6-5 overtime loss to the Minnesota Wild.

Advice: Oh goodness. Hellebuyck was certainly dealing with a lot of traffic during the contest, having to take on 44 shot attempts. Even so, this was a rather leaky performance out of the 28-year-old goaltender. Mats Zuccarello (two goals) and Joel Eriksson Ek (three goals) accounted for the bulk of the damage against Hellebuyck on the evening. Ek ended up scoring the gamewinner in overtime. It has been a rough, rough open to the season for Hellebuyck, who has now surrendered at least four goals in each of his three starts, with 14 total goals scored against him in that space. Winnipeg will next face off with the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday. NBCSportsEDGE.com Tuesday, 9:09 pm
  • Boone Jenner scores lone Blue Jackets goal in loss
Boone Jenner scored a goal in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Detroit Red Wings.

Advice: Jenner notched a goal against Thomas Greiss midway through the third period, but that would be all she wrote for the Columbus offense on Tuesday evening. This was Jenner's second goal of the young campaign after he put puck to net eight times in 41 games last season. NBCSportsEDGE.com Tuesday, 8:54 pm

  • Joonas Korpisalo surrenders two goals in defeat
Joonas Korpisalo allowed two goals on 43 shots in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Detroit Red Wings.

Advice: Korpisalo might have taken the loss in this one, but he did well enough under seemingly constant pressure from the Red Wings. All of the scoring against him came in the third period, on goals by Lucas Raymond and Tyler Bertuzzi. Indeed, all the scoring by both teams came in the third period. Detroit would manage two more goals on empty net at the tail-end of the period. This was Korpisalo's first start of the fresh campaign after he posted a creaky 3.30 GAA mark along with a .894 save percentage in 33 games last season. NBCSportsEDGE.com Tuesday, 8:47 pm
  • Bo Horvat scores in lackluster loss to Buffalo
Bo Horvat scored a goal in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Buffalo Sabres.

Advice: Horvat came through against Craig Anderson with about six minutes off the first-period clock, with assisting help from Conor Garland and Tanner Pearson. That would be one of two goals which the Canucks managed before the initial intermission. They would score no more through to the end of the contest. The 26-year-old Horvat has posted two points (one goal, one assist) in four games on the young season. He scored 39 points across 56 games played during the past campaign. NBCSportsEDGE.com Tuesday, 6:51 pm
  • Thatcher Demko ripped for four goals in defeat
Thatcher Demko allowed four goals on 42 shots in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Buffalo Sabres.

Advice: Vancouver actually held a 2-1 lead after the first period, but Demko was beaten down by Buffalo's relentless pressure over the remainder of the contest, with Zemgus Girgensons, Jeff Skinner and Tage Thompson all burning the 25-year-old goalie for scores over the remainder. Demko has now surrendered eight goals in his last two starts. Last season, he notched a .915 save percentage to go with a 16-18-1 record in 35 starts. Demko figures to settle in as the season goes along, but it's been a rocky start to things. The Canucks will square off with the Blackhawks this coming Thursday, when they next take to the ice. NBCSportsEDGE.com Tuesday, 6:38 pm
  • Juuse Saros will get the start vs. Kings

He has a career 2.42 GAA and .922 save percentage in 17 contests versus Minnesota. NBCSportsEDGE.com Tuesday, 1:31 pm
  • Ilya Sorokin will start again Tuesday night
Ilya Sorokin is expected to start Tuesday night.

  • Philipp Grubauer pulled in ugly loss to Flyers
Philipp Grubauer was pulled during Monday's 6-1 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers.

Advice: Grubauer was given the hook before the midway point of the game, after he allowed five goals on just 20 shots. Chris Driedger, who entered the game in relief, gave up one more goal on seven shots. Clearly, Seattle isn't Colorado and Grubauer found that out the hard way tonight. The 29-year-old has a 1-2-1 record with a 4.01 goals-against-average and a .867 save percentage in 2021-22.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Monday, 7:10 pm

  • Predators recall Tom Novak from Milwaukee
The Nashville Predators have recalled Tom Novak from Milwaukee.

  • Connor Hellebuyck allows four goals in loss
Connor Hellebuyck allowed four goals during Saturday's 4-3 loss to the San Jose Sharks.

Advice: Hellebuyck made 27 saves on 31 shots to end his night with a save percentage of .871. This was Hellebuyck's second consecutive loss. He has not been having the best start to the 2021-2022 season, as he currently has a save percentage of .849 and a GAA 4.10 over the course of the two games he has played so far. NBCSportsEDGE.com Saturday, 11:35 pm
  • Juuse Saros allows three goals in loss to Canes
Juuse Saros allowed three goals on 31 shots during Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes.

Advice: Saros made 29 saves on the 31 shots he faced in this matchup to end his night with a save percentage of .935. Saros allowed one goal in the first and then was solid until the third, when he gave up an additional two goals. Despite coming out of this game with a loss, this was still a solid showing for the 26-year-old netminder. NBCSportsEDGE.com Saturday, 9:31 pm
  • Frederik Andersen makes 38 saves during win
Frederik Andersen made 38 saves on 40 shots during Saturday's 3-2 victory over the Nashville Predators.

Advice: Andersen put on a very solid performance in this matchup, allowing just one goal through the first 58 minutes of this game. He gave up one additional goal late in the third, but still helped his team come out of this one with a win. Andersen has now started off his 2021-2022 season with two consecutive wins. NBCSportsEDGE.com Saturday, 9:14 pm
  • Philipp Grubauer holds Columbus down until late
Philipp Grubauer stopped 23-of-25 shots in Saturday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Advice: Grubauer was rocking a shutout performance in the crease through the first two-and-a-half periods of the game. And had he been able to keep that up, Brandon Tanev's third period goal would have proved decisive for the Kraken. Just minutes after Tanev's goal put Seattle up by a 1-0 score, though, Eric Robinson answered against Grubauer to tie things up. The contest would eventually head into overtime, with Grubauer surrendering a game-winning goal to Patrik Laine a couple of minutes into the extra period. Grubauer, 29, has now surrendered nine goals in three starts for the expansion Kraken, working to a .870 save percentage in that space. The Flyers show next on Seattle's schedule. NBCSportsEDGE.com Saturday, 6:42 pm
  • Sorokin rocked for five goals in loss to Panthers
Ilya Sorokin surrendered five goals on 29 shots in Saturday's 5-1 loss to the Florida Panthers.

Advice: Sorokin was thrice burned by Sam Bennett, with Bennett beating the 26-year-old goalie for scores in all three periods of the game. Anthony Duclair and Aleksander Barkov put in the other two goals for the Panthers to polish off the 5-1 victory. Sorokin has now surrendered 10 goals in just two games after likewise getting burned for five goals against the Hurricanes last time out. Rocky stuff. The Islanders will try for their first win of the season, once more, when they tango with the Blackhawks on Tuesday. NBCSportsEDGE.com Saturday, 5:49 pm
  • Juuse Saros will man the crease vs. Carolina
Juuse Saros will get the start during Saturday's game against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Advice: Saros will be in the crease for his second game of the season. He allowed three goals on 25 shots during a loss to the Seattle Kraken back on Thursday. Saros will be backed up by Connor Ingram, as David Rittich continues to remain in COVID-19 protocol. NBCSportsEDGE.com Saturday, 4:42 pm
  • Ilya Sorokin will start Saturday vs. Florida
Ilya Sorokin will be in goal for Saturday's game against Florida.

Advice: Sorokin will make a second straight start after he surrendered five goals on 40 shots in Thursday's 6-3 loss to Carolina. Semyon Varlamov is still unavailable to play.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Saturday, 2:31 pm
  • Karel Vejmelka plays well in NHL debut
Karel Vejmelka stopped 32 of 33 shots in Saturday's 2-1 shootout loss to Buffalo.

Advice: Vejmelka played well in his NHL debut despite not getting the victory. He was especially strong during the first period when he stopped all 14 shots he faced. Unfortunately, the 25-year-old netminder allowed two goals on three attempts in the shootout to take the loss.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Saturday, 1:25 pm
  • Paul Stastny to play despite missing morning skate

  • Connor Hellebuyck to play on Saturday night

Advice: Hellebuyck will make a second straight start and he will look to rebound from a 4-1 loss to Anaheim in Winnipeg's season opener on Wednesday. He allowed four goals on 22 shots in that contest.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Saturday, 12:03 pm
  • Vince Dunn out Saturday due to injury
Vince Dunn won't play on Saturday versus Columbus because of an undisclosed injury.

Advice: Coach Dave Hakstol described it as a day-to-day ailment for Dunn. The 24-year-old blueliner has one assist in two games this campaign.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Saturday, 11:26 am
  • Philipp Grubauer will face Columbus on Saturday
Philipp Grubauer will be in the crease for Saturday's game against Columbus.

Advice: Grubauer will make a third straight start after picking up Seattle's first franchise win on Thursday. He stopped 27 shots in a 4-3 victory over Nashville. Grubauer has a 1-1-0 record this year with a 3.54 GAA and .883 SV%.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Saturday, 10:40 am

Advice: Andersen made 25 saves on 28 shots in a 6-3 win over the New York Islanders in his Carolina debut on Thursday, Coach Rod Brind'Amour has chosen to go with the same lineup for the team's second game of the 2021-22 campaign.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Saturday, 10:31 am
  • Nathan MacKinnon won't play on Saturday night
Nathan MacKinnon (COVID protocol) won't be available for Saturday's match against St. Louis.

Advice: This doesn't come as a surprise, but there was some hope that he would be cleared in time for the contest. However, coach Jared Bednar said this morning that won't happen. This will a second straight game on the sidelines for MacKinnon after he tested positive for COVID-19.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Saturday, 10:13 am
  • Karel Vejmelka gets his first NHL start vs. Sabres
Karel Vejmelka will make his NHL debut on Saturday when he starts against the Buffalo Sabres.

Advice: Vejmelka won the backup goalie role with the Coyotes out of training camp. Carter Hutton was lit up for eight goals on 26 shots by Nashville on Thursday in Arizona's season opener, so he won't get the chance to start against his former team. NBCSportsEDGE.com Saturday, 9:02 am
  • Thatcher Demko makes 31 saves in win vs. Flyers
Thatcher Demko turned aside 31 shots in Friday's 5-4 shootout win against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Advice: Demko was under-siege from the moment the puck dropped and despite allowing four goals, looked solid in his second start of the season. The out-come of the game could've been a different one as midway through the second period Nate Thompson found himself on a breakaway but Demko stayed square to the puck and made a nice save to preserve the 2-1 lead at that point. The 25-year-old has a 1-0-1 record with a 2.79 goals-against average and .913 save percentage. NBCSportsEDGE.com Friday, 7:54 pm
  • MacKinnon (COVID protocol) misses practice Friday
Nathan MacKinnon (COVID protocol) was not on the ice for Friday's practice.

Advice: MacKinnon can still be cleared for Saturday's game against St. Louis, but it sounds like Colorado is preparing to play another match without him after he missed the team's season opener on Wednesday. He has been asymptomatic since testing positive, but remains in a holding pattern. MacKinnon needs to produce two negative tests before he can play or he will have to wait 10 days. NBCSportsEDGE.com Friday, 12:11 pm

  • Juuse Saros allows three goals in loss vs. Kraken
Juuse Saros allowed three goals on 25 shots in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Seattle Kraken.

Advice: Saros played well enough to deliver the win for his team but unfortunately they could not get it done on the offensive side of the puck. The Predators netminder will probably like to have Seattle's first goal back as it was a seemingly harmless shot from Jared McCann that made it to the back of the net. However the following two goals that he allowed were due to missed defensive assignments by his teammates in their own zone. Saros and the Predators will host the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday night. NBCSportsEDGE.com Thursday, 9:57 pm
  • Philipp Grubauer makes 27 saves in W vs. Predators
Philipp Grubauer turned aside 27 of 30 shots in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Nashville Predators.

Advice: Grubauer had nice rebound performance against the Nashville Predators after a tough opening night against the Golden Knights. The 29-year-old denied Eeli Tolvanen with just over three minutes left in the game with a beautiful pad save to keep the Kraken lead at 3-2. Brandon Tanev eventually sealed the deal with an empty-net goal to give the Seattle Kraken their first win in franchise history. Grubauer has a 1-1-0 record with a 3.54 goals-against average and .883 save percentage through two games this season. NBCSportsEDGE.com Thursday, 9:50 pm
  • Ilya Sorokin allows 5 goals in loss to Hurricanes
Ilya Sorokin allowed five goals on 40 shots during Thursday's 6-3 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes.

Advice: This won't go down as Sorokin's best night, but it had a lot to do with his team leaving him out to dry. The Isles had a 1-0 lead thanks to a Mat Barzal goal in the first period, but they watched as Carolina back-to-back goals and four of the next five. Despite tonight's rough effort, the Isles and their goaltenders should be seen as quality fantasy options because of the defense-first style the team plays.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Thursday, 8:02 pm
  • Freddie Andersen wins in Carolina debut
Frederik Andersen allowed three goals on 28 shots during Thursday's 6-3 win over the New York Islanders.

Advice: Andersen's teammates managed to provide plenty of run-support for him in his Hurricanes debut. There's no denying his ability in goal, but he'll have to show that he can stay healthy and that he can win big games at playoff time. The 32-year-old will continue to serve as Carolina's 1A goaltender ahead of Antti Raanta for now. He should be rostered in all fantasy leagues because the 'Canes will win a lot of games in 2021-22.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Thursday, 7:59 pm
  • Juuse Saros will start in net vs. Seattle
Juuse Saros will get the start in Thursday night's game against the Seattle Kraken.

Advice: Saros led his team out for warmups, indicating that he will be in the crease for the Predators at puck drop. Last season Saros started 35 games, during which he earned himself a record of 21-11-1. He had a save percentage of .927 and a GAA of 2.28 during that time. His save percentage last season was the highest single-season save percentage of his career. NBCSportsEDGE.com Thursday, 4:42 pm
  • Ilya Sorokin will get the start vs. Hurricanes
Ilya Sorokin will get the start during Thursday’s season opener against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Advice: Sorokin appeared in 22 contests for the Islanders during the 2020-2021 regular season. During that stint he posted a record of 13-6-3. He had a save percentage of .918 and a GAA of 2.17 during that time. This is the first time that the 26-year-old netminder will be playing against Carolina in his NHL Career. NBCSportsEDGE.com Thursday, 3:45 pm
  • Avalanche hope to get MacKinnon back for Saturday
Colorado hopes to get Nathan MacKinnon (COVID protocol) back for Saturday's game against St. Louis.

Advice: MacKinnon was not available to play in Wednesday's season opener against Chicago following a positive COVID-19 test. It is currently unclear if he will be cleared to return by Saturday, but there is still time for that to happen.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Thursday, 1:15 pm
  • Philipp Grubauer slated to play on Thursday
Philipp Grubauer is expected to start Thursday night against Nashville.

Advice: Grubauer was the first goalie off the ice at the morning skate. He is coming off a 4-3 loss to Vegas in Seattle's first NHL game on Tuesday. Grubauer stopped 26 of 30 shots in that contest.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Thursday, 12:57 pm
  • Vincent Trocheck expected to play in opener
Vincent Trocheck has been activated from injured reserve and he is expected to play in Carolina's season opener on Thursday night.

Advice: Trocheck was between Andrei Svechnikov and Teuvo Teravainen during the morning skate. That trio also practiced together on Monday.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Thursday, 11:24 am
  • Thatcher Demko allows two goals in SOL vs. Oilers
Thatcher Demko allowed two goals on 34 shots in Wednesday's 3-2 shootout loss to the Edmonton Oilers.

Advice: Demko could've had better rebound control on Jesse Puljujarvi's game-opening goal but that would be nitpicking on what was an impressive performance from the 25-year-old netminder. He didn't have to make any highlight reel saves because he was very positionally sound throughout the entire game. In the shootout, Kyle Turris beat Demko five-hole to win it for the Oilers. The Canucks next play Friday night in Philadelphia to face off with the Flyers. NBCSportsEDGE.com Wednesday, 10:57 pm
  • Connor Hellebuyck allows 4 goals in loss vs. Ducks
Connor Hellebuyck allowed four goals on 22 shots in Wednesday's 4-1 loss to the Anaheim Ducks.

Advice: The former Vezina Trophy winning goaltender struggled early in the game as Kevin Shattenkirk beat him from a sharp angle to open the scoring. Things only got tougher for Hellebuyck as the Ducks created traffic in front of him with ease and were able to put three more shots past him. Despite the traffic in front, a goaltender of his caliber should be stopping a higher percentage of pucks. Hellebuyck will get a chance to rebound from his performance on Saturday night when the Jets travel to San Jose to take on the Sharks. NBCSportsEDGE.com Wednesday, 10:16 pm
  • Connor Hellebuyck to play on Wednesday
Connor Hellebuyck will get the nod on Wednesday's season opener against Anaheim.

Advice: Hellebuyck had a 24-17-3 record last season with a 2.58 goals-against average, a .916 save percentage and four shutouts.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Wednesday, 2:08 pm
  • Thatcher Demko starts Wednesday against Edmonton
Thatcher Demko will be in the crease for Wednesday's season opener against Edmonton.

Advice: Demko posted a mark of 16-18-1 last season with a 2.85 goals-against average and .915 save percentage in 35 starts. He had a 3-5-0 record versus the Oilers last year.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Wednesday, 11:38 am
  • Frederik Andersen to play Thursday vs. Islanders
Frederik Andersen will get the nod in Thursday's season opener against the New York Islanders, per coach Rod Brind'Amour.

Advice: Andersen inked a two-year deal with Carolina in the summer. He will be looking to bounce back after a forgettable season with Toronto in 2020-21. In 24 appearances, Andersen posted a 13-8-3 record with career-worsts in goals-against average (2.96) and save percentage (.895). He is expected to share the crease with Antti Raanta this year.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Wednesday, 9:53 am
  • Philipp Grubauer allows four goals in loss to VGK
Philipp Grubauer allowed four goals on 30 shots in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights

Advice: Grubauer did not look like the Vezina finalist of last season against the Golden Knights. The 29-year-old would probably like to have Vegas' first and third goals back as he could've played the shots more aggressively to keep them out of the net. Grubauer was handed a big contract in the offseason to be the main man in Seattle, however Chris Driedger is waiting in the wings and had a strong showing last year with the Florida Panthers so he'll need to step his game up. The Kraken next play on Friday night in Nashville. NBCSportsEDGE.com Tuesday, 10:35 pm
