Player Notes

  • Provides relief appearance
Brossoit was thrust into duty Sunday when starter Connor Hellebuyck was pulled at the end of the second period. He made four saves in relief as the Jets fell 5-1 to the Avalanche in Game 4.

Advice: Hellebuyck was pulled in the second period after allowing four goals, so Brossoit took over between the pipes and turned aside all four shots sent his way. The Avalanche added an empty-netter with only 13 seconds left in the game. This was Brossoit's first appearance in the playoffs. Look for Winnipeg to return to Hellebuyck when the Jets host Colorado in Game 5 on Tuesday. Rotowire.com Sunday, 5:58 pm
  • Third straight win
Georgiev allowed one goal on 27 shots in Sunday's 5-1 Game 4 win over the Jets.

Advice: Georgiev allowed a first-period goal on the fifth shot of the game but then kicked aside the next 22 shots to keep the Jets off the scoreboard. After a poor performance in Game 1, Georgiev has allowed only five goals on 77 shots for a .935 save percentage in the last three games. The Avalanche lead the series 3-1 and would move on to the second round with a Game 5 win Tuesday, when the series shifts back to Winnipeg. Rotowire.com Sunday, 5:10 pm
  • Recalled Sunday
Campbell was promoted from AHL Bakersfield on Sunday.

Advice: AHL Bakersfield was knocked out of the Calder Cup playoffs so Campbell will likely be serving as the third goalie for the Oilers. He went 1-4-0 with an .873 save percentage at the NHL level this season and hasn't appeared in a game at the top level since Nov. 4. Rotowire.com Sunday, 5:08 pm
  • Falls to Isles in 2OT
Andersen made 32 saves Saturday in a 3-2 double-overtime loss to the Islanders in Game 4 of the Hurricanes' first-round series.

Advice: Carolina had a chance to sweep the series on the road but couldn't find a winner in the first OT period despite firing 17 shots at Semyon Varlamov, opening the door for Mathew Barzal to save New York's season. Andersen has played brilliantly to begin the playoffs, posting a 2.07 GAA and .920 save percentage through four games, and he should be in the crease again for Game 5 on Tuesday as the Canes try to punch their ticket to the second round. • Pulled after two periods
Samsonov allowed three goals on 17 shots in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Bruins in Game 4.

Advice: Samsonov lasted two periods before head coach Sheldon Keefe turned to Joseph Woll for the third. Woll stopped all five shots he faced, though the Bruins didn't apply much pressure while protecting a lead. Samsonov has gone 1-3 with 12 goals allowed over four playoff contests so far, so it's fair to question how much longer he'll be the starter with the Maple Leafs entering must-win mode. Keefe declined to name a starting goalie for Tuesday's Game 5 in his postgame comments. Rotowire.com Saturday, 8:39 pm
  • Collects third win of series
Swayman stopped 24 of 25 shots in Saturday's 3-1 win over the Maple Leafs in Game 4.

Advice: Swayman has all three of the Bruins' wins so far in the playoffs, having allowed just four goals on 91 shots in his three starts. He started consecutive contests for the first time since February 19-21, and it looks like he's now the Bruins' preferred starter. The 25-year-old will likely be between the pipes again for Tuesday's Game 5 with a chance to send Toronto packing. Rotowire.com Saturday, 8:13 pm
  • Torched for six more goals
Talbot allowed six goals on 40 shots in Friday's 6-1 loss to the Oilers in Game 3.

Advice: Talbot has given up a total of 16 tallies over three games in the first round, so he's lucky the Kings are only down 2-1 in the series. The 36-year-old's play has been lackluster, but he's not getting a ton of help from his defense. Game 4 is Sunday, but it's unclear if the Kings will stick with Talbot much longer if he continues to struggle, which could open the door for David Rittich to get a look. • Returning in backup role
Annunen (illness) will back up Alexandar Georgiev on Friday for Game 3 versus Winnipeg, per Kyle Fredrickson of The Denver Gazette.

Advice: Annunen missed the first two games of the series with an illness, but he's now feeling well enough to sit on the bench as Georgiev's backup Friday. Annunen went 8-4-1 with a 2.25 GAA and a .928 save percentage in 14 regular-season appearances. Rotowire.com Friday, 10:27 am
  • Summoned from AHL
Holm was recalled from AHL Colorado on Friday.

Advice: Justus Annunen was unavailable for the first two games of Colorado's first-round matchup with Winnipeg due to an illness, and he's considered questionable for Friday's Game 3, making the recall of Holm necessary. Holm went 6-6-0 with a 2.97 GAA and an .887 save percentage in 12 AHL appearances in 2023-24. Rotowire.com Friday, 8:07 am
