Player Notes

  • Generates assist Thursday
Kulak notched an assist, three shots on goal, four blocked shots, two PIM and a minus-2 rating in Thursday's 5-1 loss to the Avalanche.

Advice: A heavily rotated Oilers team stood no chance against the full force of the Avalanche's lineup. Kulak saw a season-high 20:49 of ice time in the contest, but he'll likely be back in his familiar third-pairing role for the start of the playoffs. The Oilers begin their first-round series against the Kings on Monday. Kulak concludes the regular season with 16 points, 94 shots on net, 88 blocked shots and 77 hits over 82 appearances. • Ends season out of lineup
Gilbert was scratched for 20 of the Flames' final 23 games this season.

Advice: Gilbert had a career year with seven points in 34 contests, but his playing time was sparse after the All-Star break. The physical defenseman is a pending unrestricted free agent and will likely have to settle for a two-way contract in 2024-25 after playing on a one-way deal the last two seasons. • Ready for Saturday
Edmundson (rest) is set to play in Game 1 against Boston on Saturday, per Jonas Siegel of The Athletic.

Advice: Edmundson didn't play in Wednesday's 6-4 loss to Tampa Bay so that he could get a breather for the playoffs. He finished the regular season with a goal, six points, 80 hits and 65 blocks in 53 contests between Washington and Toronto. Edmundson is projected to start the postseason on the third pairing alongside Timothy Liljegren. Rotowire.com Today, 11:07 am
  • Puts up assist in win
Miromanov notched an assist and went plus-3 in Thursday's 5-1 win over the Sharks.

Advice: Miromanov held his own as a top-four option once he was traded from the Golden Knights to the Flames, earning seven points over 20 contests. He also saw power-play time, where he earned two of his four assists. The 26-year-old defenseman signed a two-year extension with the Flames in March, so it's clear he's part of the team's plans on the blue line for 2024-25 with the aim of being a full-time NHLer. • On ice Friday
McCabe (rest) was at practice Friday, Jonas Siegel of The Athletic reports.

Advice: McCabe will start Game 1 versus Boston on Saturday on the second pairing, alongside Simon Benoit. McCabe had eight goals, 20 assists, 56 PIM, 129 blocked shots and 219 hits in 73 appearances during the 2023-24 campaign. Rotowire.com Today, 11:00 am

  • Earns 200th career point
Andersson logged an assist, two blocked shots and a plus-3 rating in Thursday's 5-1 win over the Sharks.

Advice: The helper was Andersson's 200th career point. The defenseman fell short of the 40-point mark for the first time in three years, ending 2023-24 with nine goals, 30 helpers, 159 shots on net, 186 blocked shots and a minus-11 rating over 78 appearances. Despite the drop in offense, he remains a top-four defenseman capable of taking minutes in all situations heading into 2024-25. Rotowire.com Today, 10:53 am
  • Tallies in win
Kylington scored a goal and went plus-2 in Thursday's 5-1 win over the Sharks.

Advice: After missing all of 2022-23 and a good portion of this season, Kylington's return was a positive story for a Flames team that remains stuck in mediocrity. The defenseman earned eight points and added 42 shots on net, 51 blocked shots and a minus-6 rating. Kylington, a pending unrestricted free agent, expressed his desire to sign with Calgary again, Wes Gilbertson of the Calgary Sun reported Friday. The 26-year-old blueliner is likely to be a bottom-four blueliner regardless of if he stays or goes, but he could also factor in on the power play more once he gets a full training camp under his belt again. • Pockets assist Thursday
Oleksiak recorded an assist, a plus-2 rating and four blocked shots in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Wild.

Advice: Oleksiak earned five assists over the final 13 games of the campaign. The 31-year-old played in every game of the season for the first time in his career, but he had just 15 points to go with 177 blocked shots, 110 hits and 108 shots on net. Oleksiak is signed for two more seasons and will continue to be a significant part of the Kraken's top four with a focus on the defensive side of the ice. Rotowire.com Today, 10:42 am
