    • Nazem Kadri wants to elevate his game in 2014-15.
Advice: "My expectation for myself is to go up (in production) every year," he said. "No one has higher expectations of me than me, so I'm working as hard as I can to get there. You always work hard to get better, but now your body is a bit more mature, and you know it better, so it's easier to put on pounds or take them off, whatever you need." Kadri feels his ideal weight is around 190 pounds. He's been working hard on his shot and release during the summer. Kadri appears confident that he can improve on the 20 goals and 50 points he picked up in 78 games last campaign.

    • Clarke MacArthur said receiving the security of a five-year deal won't change the way he approaches the game.
Advice: "Just because I've got a five-year deal, that doesn't mean I need to change a whole lot. I kind of want to play the same game," said MacArthur, who will carry a $4.65 million cap hit when the 2015-16 season begins. "I want to play good in both ends. I feel like if we work hard in our own end, if we check hard, the offensive opportunities just come. Playing with offensive players, things are going to happen. It's more about defending." He enjoyed playing alongside Kyle Turris last year and the duo will probably be together again this campaign.

    • Stephen Weiss believes he can be productive this season after dealing with a sports hernia problem in 2013-14.
Advice: "I'm confident," Weiss said. "I know I can play the game and I'm a threat on the team as a No. 2 center with those two guys [Datsyuk and Zetterberg] coming out first. We should be able to do some damage if we're healthy." He has been working hard since his second surgery on April 21 and he'll be ready to go in training camp.
