  • Inks two-year extension
Pezzetta signed a two-year, $1.625 million extension with the Canadiens on Friday, Sportsnet reports.

Advice: Pezzetta drew into 63 games with Montreal in 2022-23, picking up seven goals and 15 points while averaging 9:19 of ice time. The 25-year-old forward should continue to post similar numbers while skating in a bottom-six role over the next two campaigns. Rotowire.com Today, 8:20 am
  • Inks deal in Sweden
Dahlstrom signed a contract with Farjestad BK of the SHL on Thursday.

Advice: Dahlstrom sustained a shoulder injury in training camp that cost him six months, so he didn't play in the NHL this season. Over parts of four campaigns, he's logged 12 assists in 67 career games with three different NHL clubs. The Swedish defenseman will return to his home country, though at 28 years old, it's possible he could play his way back to North America. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:29 pm
  • Set to re-enter draft
Whynot wasn't signed by the Flames before Thursday's deadline, so the team's NHL negotiating rights with him have expired, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports.

Advice: Whynot was selected by Calgary with the No. 89 overall pick in the 2021 NHL Draft, but because he went unsigned, he'll be part of this year's draft as well. The 20-year-old defenseman had three goals and 25 points in 48 contests with QMJHL Halifax in 2022-23. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:25 pm
  • Will re-enter draft
Huckins wasn't signed by Calgary before Thursday's deadline and will consequently be part of the 2023 NHL Draft, per Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan.

Advice: Huckins had 28 goals and 58 points in 64 QMJHL contests with Sherbrooke in 2022-23. The Flames took him with the No. 77 overall pick in the 2021 NHL Draft, but their exclusive NHL negotiating rights with the 20-year-old forward have lapsed. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:21 pm
  • Has hip resurfacing
Kane underwent hip resurfacing Thursday, per Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.

Advice: Kane is expected to need four-to-six months to recover from the procedure, so his availability for the start of the 2023-24 campaign is very questionable. He recorded 21 goals and 57 points in 73 contests between Chicago and the Rangers in 2022-23 and contributed another goal and six points in seven playoff outings this year. Kane has completed his eight-year, $84 million contract and is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:44 pm
