    • Strikes first in loss
MacKinnon scored a goal on four shots and blocked one shot in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to Montreal.

Advice: MacKinnon put the Avalanche up 1-0 43 seconds into the first period, but that was the end of Colorado's offense. And, after the Canadiens scored twice later in the first period, it was the end of the Avalanche's nine-game win streak. The tally extended MacKinnon's point streak to 19 games -- his second streak of that length this season -- and his point streak at home to 35 games. The 28-year-old center is in uncharted territory with a career-high 123 points. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 3:32 am
    • Gets overtime win
Saros made 31 saves on 35 shots in a 5-4 overtime win over the Golden Knights on Tuesday.

Advice: In a high-scoring affair, the two goaltenders faced the exact same amount of shots but Saros was able to save one more than his counterpart to come up with the win in overtime. The Predators found themselves down 3-0 in the first period but battled back, including Saros kicking aside the final 13 shots sent his way. Even though he only finished with a .886 save percentage, this was the fifth win in a row for Saros. He has not lost a game in regulation since Feb. 15 against Dallas. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 10:48 pm
    • Slated to start
Saros was the first goalie off the ice at morning skate, Alex Daugherty of The Tennessean reports, putting him on track to protect the home goal versus Vegas on Tuesday.

Advice: Saros was unbeatable in his last start Saturday versus Detroit, stopping all 22 shots he faced en route to a tidy 1-0 victory. He'll try to extend his personal winning streak to five games in a home matchup with a surging Golden Knights team that's won four of its last five games. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 9:17 am
    • Strikes late in loss
Boeser scored a goal and added two PIM in Monday's 3-2 loss to the Kings.

Advice: Boeser cut the deficit to one goal with 2:53 left in the third period, but the Canucks couldn't find an equalizer. The winger's scoring pace has dropped significantly in March -- he has two goals and six points over 10 contests this month, and he's gone 12 games without a multi-point effort. For the season, Boeser has 37 tallies, 31 helpers. 186 shots on net and a plus-24 rating through 72 appearances. Rotowire.com Monday, 9:44 pm
    • Not traveling with team
Pietrangelo (illness) didn't join the Golden Knights for their four-game road trip, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports Monday.

Advice: With the trip starting with a back-to-back against the Blues and Predators on Monday and Tuesday, respectively, Pietrangelo figures to miss both contests, though he could link up with the team before it returns to Vegas. In his last seven outings, the veteran defenseman has failed to find the back of the net while putting just nine shots on target, though he has three assists in that span. Ben Hutton should remain in the lineup with Pietrangelo on the shelf. Rotowire.com Monday, 9:45 am
    • Sets Avalanche record
MacKinnon logged a goal, two assists, six shots on net and one hit in Sunday's 5-4 overtime win over Pittsburgh.

Advice: Colorado's comeback from a 4-0 deficit began with the support cast and was finished by its stars. MacKinnon had a goal and an assist in the third period, helping to set up OT, then had a hand in Jonathan Drouin's winner 54 seconds into the extra period. The three-point night for MacKinnon upped his season total to 122 points, passing Joe Sakic (120) for points scored in a season by a member of the Avalanche. Next up is the franchise record of 139 set by Peter Stastny as a member of the Quebec Nordiques in the 1981-82 season. Rotowire.com Monday, 5:02 am
    • Powers Sens to win
Chychrun scored a pair of goals in Sunday's 5-3 victory over the Oilers.

Advice: Chychrun got the Senators on the board with a power-play goal in the first period, tying the game 1-1, before tallying the eventual game-winner on another man advantage late in the third, beating Calvin Pickard with a one-timer off a Drake Batherson feed. Chychrun had gone 18 games without a goal prior to Sunday's contest, picking up just two assists in that span. The 25-year-old blueliner now has 11 goals and 34 points through 70 games this season. • Out Monday
Hill (undisclosed) will not play Monday in St. Louis, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Advice: Hill isn't traveling with the team but it sounds like there's a chance he could join them during the upcoming four-game stretch. If not, his next chance to play would be April 2 against the Canucks back in Vegas. The 27-year-old was injured Saturday against Columbus but still earned a win by stopping 12 of 13 shots. Logan Thompson will start Monday against the Blues with Jiri Patera backing up. Rotowire.com Sunday, 12:18 pm

    • Three helpers Saturday
Buchnevich notched three assists in Saturday's 5-4 overtime win over the Wild.

Advice: The 28-year-old helped set up all three goals of Jordan Kyrou's hat trick, one in the second period and two in the third. Buchnevich has gone 12 games without scoring a goal, but he's stayed productive with eight assists in the last seven contests. On the season, he's delivered 24 goals and 56 points through 69 games.
