    • Placed on unconditional waivers
The Sharks placed Knyzhov on unconditional waivers for the purpose of buying out his contract Saturday, Chris Johnston of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Kynzhov has one year remaining on a two-year contract. The Sharks will save $933,333 this season and add $466,667 to their 2025-26 salary cap. Kynzhov managed only one assist in 10 regular-season appearances for the Sharks in 2023-24 as well as three goals and 14 points in 40 games with AHL San Jose. Rotowire.com Today, 9:10 am
    • Heads to Tampa Bay in trade
Geekie , J.J. Moser, a 2025 second-round pick and the No. 199 selection in the 2024 NHL Draft were acquired by Tampa Bay on Saturday from Utah in exchange for Mikhail Sergachev.

Advice: Geekie was the 11th overall pick in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. He tallied 43 goals and 56 assists in 54 games between Wenatchee and Swift Current of the WHL in 2023-24. He also dressed for two playoff games for Utah's AHL affiliate in Tucson. Geekie immediately elevates Tampa Bay's thin prospect pool, especially down the middle. At 6-foot-4, the left-shooting pivot will eventually bring size, skill and vision to the Lightning. Geekie is continuing to work on his skating mechanics, as that was the knock on him on Draft Day. Advice: Moser registered five goals, 26 points, 112 blocked shots and 99 hits in 80 games during the 2023-24 campaign. He should be able to flourish in a depth role with veteran defenders like Victor Hedman and Ryan McDonagh. Rotowire.com Today, 8:59 am
    • Traded to Utah
Utah acquired Sergachev from Tampa Bay on Saturday in exchange for Conor Geekie, J.J. Moser, a 2025 second-round pick and a 2024 seventh-round selection.

Advice: No salary was retained by the Lightning in the deal, meaning Utah will absorb Sergachev's $8.5 million cap hit through the 2030-31 season. The defender is coming off an injury-riddled year but showed his elite value with a dominant 64-point campaign in 2022-23. Sergachev immediately assumes number-one status in Utah and will run the team's power play. Rotowire.com Today, 8:54 am
