    • Kane is expected to be on the same line with Patrick Sharp and Jonathan Toews for the Blackhawks' top line for Game 5 against Detroit of the Western Conference semifinals, ESPN Chicago reports.
Recommendation: Kane has been one of the few bright spots offensively scoring the lone two goals for the team in the last three games. The trio had only seen sparse time together, but has worked well in the past. The Blackhawks need scoring and they are going to try to put three of their top scorers on one line. "They've played together in the past," Blackhawks head coach Joel Quenneville said. "They've played together during the year, a few shifts here and there. I think they like playing together. We'll see how it goes."

    • Clowe, who has yet to play in the second-round series against the Bruins due to an undisclosed injury, is not in the lineup for Saturday's Game 5, according to Newsday's Steve Zipay.
Recommendation: Brad Richards is also sitting out this one as the Rangers try to stave off elimination one more time. Clowe has been able to play in just two games this postseason.

    • Updating a previous report, while Powe (undisclosed) was out taking pregame warmups, he is not listed in the lineup for Saturday's Game 5 against the Bruins, according to Dan Rosen of NHL.com.
Recommendation: It sounds like Powe is close to being able to take the call if needed, but for now the Blueshirts will go with the same forward lines that beat the Bruins in Game 4.

    • Coach Todd McLellan said Burish (hand) is "very close" to playing and could be available for Sunday's Game 6 against the Kings, the Calgary Sun reports.
Recommendation: Burish was similarly questionable for Game 5 but ultimately sat out in the 3-0 loss to the Kings. The 30-year-old didn't supply much in the way of offense in the regular season, charting just 3 points and minus-7 rating over 46 games.

    • Malkin snapped a two-game pointless streak with a goal and an assist Friday night.
Recommendation: Even with a mini-scoring drought, Malkin has netted four goals and 16 points in the playoffs, one point behind Boston's David Krejci for the league lead.

    • Seguin notched his first goal of the playoffs and picked up an assist in Thursday's overtime loss to the Rangers.
Recommendation: It took 11 games for Seguin to hit the back of the net, but it's not like he wasn't getting his chances. His 45 shots on goal are second among postseason skaters to date. With Jaromir Jagr now skating with Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron, Seguin has being working with Rich Peverley and Chris Kelly on the Bruins' speedy third line.

    • Cracknell re-signed with the Blues on a one-year contract on Friday.
Recommendation: Cracknell was a bit contributor for the Blues this season, recording a modest six points in 20 games. He doesn't figure to vault into a more impactful role in 2013-14.

    • Neal netted a hat trick and added an assist in a 6-2, series-clinching win Friday night against the Senators.
Recommendation: He has five goals (on 14 shots) and seven points in the last two games. Linemate Evgeni Malkin predicted a breakout for Neal -- who totaled three points in his first seven playoff games -- prior to Wednesday's tilt and the forward has more than followed through. Surprisingly, just two of his 10 points have come courtesy of the power play.

    • Havlat (groin) is out for Thursday's game against the Kings, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Recommendation: This will be the second straight game Havlat has missed due to the groin injury. He remains day-to-day.

    • Burns opened the scoring Tuesday, adding three shots and 19:20 in ice time in the San Jose win.
Recommendation: That's Burns first point in the series against Los Angeles. He's been less effective for the Sharks in the postseason than during the regular season, averaging .5 points per game.

    • Pavelski had an assist and three shots in the Sharks victory Tuesday.
Recommendation: Pavelski is on a tear and with Couture on his line, there's no sign of this stopping. He's been on the ice for 17 goals and only one against this postseason.

    • Alfredsson recorded two points in a Game 4 loss to the Penguins on Wednesday.
Recommendation: The captain's goal and assist weren't nearly enough to stop Pittsburgh from cruising to a 7-3 victory and a 3-1 series lead.

    • Neil (upper body), who left Sunday's Game 3 victory over the Penguins during the second overtime period, practiced Tuesday.
Recommendation: The report adds that Neil is cleared to play in Wednesday's Game 4, suggesting that the pesky forward could have returned to Game 3 with more time.

    • St. Louis has been named a finalist for the Lady Byng Trophy, given each year to the player who has best exhibited the combination of sportsmanship, gentlemanly conduct and skill. He is up against Patrick Kane of the Blackhawks and Matt Moulson of the Islanders.
Recommendation: He is already a two-time Lady Byng winner (2009-10, 2010-11) and a finalist for the award four other times. This year, he led the NHL with 43 helpers and 60 points in 48 games to win his second-career Art Ross Trophy, all while spending just 14 minutes in the penalty box.

    • Hemsky is not expected to be back in Edmonton next season, according to the Edmonton Journal.
Recommendation: Hemsky is due to make $5 million next season and with his history on injuries and games missed it is unlikely the Oilers would want to pay him that amount. Problem is, neither will another team. The Oilers would probably have to eat a certain portion of the contract in order to deal him.

    • Samuelsson (shoulder) will not be in the lineup for Game 3 on Monday, MLive.com reports.
Recommendation: He's listed as a healthy scratch Monday, so it may simply be a case where head coach Mike Babcock is happy with the lineup he used in the Wings' Game 2 victory on Saturday and does not feel the need to push Samuelsson back into the fold at the current time.
