      Advice: Tkachuk helped out on third-period goals by Aleksander Barkov and Carter Verhaeghe. This was Tkachuk's fourth multi-point effort in five playoff games -- he has accumulated three goals and six assists in the postseason.       Advice: Mikkola helped out on Carter Verhaeghe's opening goal in the second period and scored the final goal of the game in the third. This was Mikkola's first multi-point effort since Dec. 6. He's maintained steady ice time in a top-four role this season, though he's rarely a big contributor on offense.       Varlamov will be between the road pipes for Game 5 against the Hurricanes on Tuesday, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.

      Advice: As expected, Varlamov gets the nod after having put together a strong showing in Game 4. He stopped 42 of 44 shots on net in that must-win contest.       Brossoit was thrust into duty Sunday when starter Connor Hellebuyck was pulled at the end of the second period. He made four saves in relief as the Jets fell 5-1 to the Avalanche in Game 4.

      Advice: Hellebuyck was pulled in the second period after allowing four goals, so Brossoit took over between the pipes and turned aside all four shots sent his way. The Avalanche added an empty-netter with only 13 seconds left in the game. This was Brossoit's first appearance in the playoffs.       Tkachuk collected two assists Saturday during a 6-3 loss to the Lightning in Game 4.

      Advice: Both helpers came in the second period as the Panthers tried to rally from an early 3-0 deficit, to no avail. Tkachuk has been outstanding to begin the postseason, and he leads Florida with seven points (three goals, four assists) through four games.       Varlamov stopped 42 shots Saturday in a 3-2 double-overtime win over the Hurricanes in Game 4 of the Islanders' first-round series.

      Advice: The 36-year-old netminder wouldn't let the Isles get swept, making 17 saves in the first OT period alone to give Mathew Barzal a chance to pot the winner. Varlamov has started three of New York's four playoff games so far, posting a stellar 2.08 GAA and .930 save percentage despite a 1-2 record, and he should get the nod again Tuesday for Game 5 as the series shifts back to Carolina.       Advice: Byfield has four helpers and a plus-5 rating over three playoff contests. Byfield can offer offense with a little physicality, but it remains to be seen if reuniting him with Anze Kopitar and Adrian Kempe will be the adjustment the Kings need to keep pace in this first-round series. The winger continues to play in a top-six role and on the first power-play unit, which should lead to plenty of chances in an offense that's racked up 17 goals over its first three postseason games.       Varlamov will get the starting nod at home for Game 4 against the Hurricanes on Saturday, Arthur Staple of The Athletic reports.

      Advice: Varlamov was initially benched for Game 3 but came on in relief of Ilya Sorokin in the second period -- Varly stopped all eight shots he faced from that point on. Overall, Varlamov is sporting a 2.41 GAA and .915 save percentage through three playoff appearances, but he's lost both of his starts.
