    • Drops Game 7 in overtime
Samsonov allowed two goals on 31 shots in Saturday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Bruins in Game 7.

Advice: Samsonov put in a strong showing after Joseph Woll (undisclosed) was deemed unavailable for the winner-take-all contest. Samsonov was able to get the game to overtime, but a bank pass from Hampus Lindholm found David Pastrnak in the space between Samsonov and defenseman Morgan Rielly, and Pastrnak was able to convert the decisive goal. Samsonov won just one of his five playoff appearances, allowing 14 goals on 134 shots during the first round. The 27-year-old will be an unrestricted free agent this summer, and the emergence of Woll makes it seem unlikely Samsonov will be back to the Maple Leafs after a mediocre campaign. • Thrust into service for Game 7
Samsonov is expected to start on the road in Game 7 against Boston on Saturday, per Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.

Advice: Samsonov has struggled in the first round, allowing 12 goals on 103 shots (.883 save percentage) over four outings, which led to him being pulled in favor of Joseph Woll during Game 4. Although Toronto still lost that contest 3-1, which gave Boston a 3-1 series lead, the 25-year-old Woll would start in Games 5 and 6, earning two straight wins while saving 49 of 51 shots. However, Woll is dealing with an injury, so the Leafs will have to put their hopes in Samsonov for the deciding tilt of the series. Rotowire.com Saturday, 4:48 pm
    • Called up from minors
Knight was recalled from AHL Charlotte on Thursday, George Richards of Florida Hockey Now reports.

Advice: Knight has spent the entire 2023-24 campaign in the minors with the Checkers, logging action in 45 regular-season contests in which he posted a 25-14-5 record and .905 save percentage. Even with his promotion, Knight shouldn't be expected to get into any games, primarily serving as an emergency option behind Sergei Bobrovsky and Anthony Stolarz. Rotowire.com Thursday, 12:50 pm
    • Two helpers in series-clinching win
McDavid logged a pair of assists in Wednesday's 4-3 Game 5 win over Los Angeles.

Advice: McDavid set up Leon Draisaitl's game-tying power-play goal midway through the second period before adding another helper on Draisaitl's go-ahead tally just a few minutes later. McDavid recorded at least one assist in all five games in the series. He's totaled a league-high 12 points (one goal, 11 assists) so far this postseason. Rotowire.com Thursday, 7:57 am
    • Scores in Game 4 loss
Eichel scored a goal on three shots and blocked two shots in Monday's 4-2 loss to the Stars in Game 4.

Advice: Eichel put the Golden Knights ahead 2-1 in the second period, but their offense stalled out there. The 27-year-old is riding an eight-game point streak, which includes three goals and three helpers over four playoff contests. The center remains a huge part of the Vegas offense and will look to get his team back on track in Wednesday's Game 5. Rotowire.com Monday, 10:55 pm
    • Adds power-play helper
McDavid logged a power-play assist in Sunday's 1-0 win over the Kings in Game 4.

Advice: McDavid continues to be a big playmaker for the Oilers, with a goal and nine helpers through four playoff contests. He's earned eight of his 10 points with the man advantage, with the Oilers vastly overpowering the Kings while a man up. McDavid has added 10 shots on net, nine hits and a plus-1 rating in the postseason while playing in his usual top-line role. Rotowire.com Apr 28, 11:36 pm
    • Nets shortie Saturday
Eichel scored a shorthanded goal on six shots in Saturday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Stars in Game 3.

Advice: Eichel's goal in the second period tied the game at 2-2. After finishing the regular season with a four-game point spree (two goals, three assists), the 27-year-old has two tallies and three assists during a three-game point streak to begin the playoffs. The star center has added eight hits, 11 shots on net and a plus-3 rating in the postseason as he continues to be the centerpiece of the Vegas offense. Rotowire.com Apr 27, 11:59 pm
    • Scores lone goal in loss
Marner scored a goal on three shots and added two PIM in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Bruins in Game 4.

Advice: Marner snapped a five-game goal drought with his third-period tally, but the Maple Leafs couldn't make a rally out of it. He's picked up just two points with seven shots on net, six hits and a plus-1 rating over four playoff contests, which is not enough production from one of the team's core players. Marner remains in a top-six role, but Toronto will need more out of him to keep its season alive beyond Tuesday's Game 5. Rotowire.com Apr 27, 8:48 pm
    • Pulled after two periods
Samsonov allowed three goals on 17 shots in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Bruins in Game 4.

Advice: Samsonov lasted two periods before head coach Sheldon Keefe turned to Joseph Woll for the third. Woll stopped all five shots he faced, though the Bruins didn't apply much pressure while protecting a lead. Samsonov has gone 1-3 with 12 goals allowed over four playoff contests so far, so it's fair to question how much longer he'll be the starter with the Maple Leafs entering must-win mode. Keefe declined to name a starting goalie for Tuesday's Game 5 in his postgame comments. Rotowire.com Apr 27, 8:39 pm
