    • Falls to Boston in Game 3
Samsonov stopped 30 of 33 shots in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the Bruins, with Boston's final goal of Game 3 getting scored into an empty net.

Advice: Jeremy Swayman and Samsonov were both perfect in the first period and still had a 1-1 goaltending duel going headed into the second intermission, but the Bruins pulled away after Jake DeBrusk notched a power-play tally just 67 seconds into the final frame. Samsonov has given up nine goals on 86 shots through the first three games of the playoffs, and with Toronto down 2-1 in the series, he might need to come up big in Game 4 on Saturday to keep his team in the series, Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:23 am
    • Three points in Game 3 win
Marchand scored two goals, including the game-winner, and added a power-play assist Wednesday in a 4-2 victory over the Maple Leafs in Game 3 of the Bruins' first-round series.

Advice: The supreme agitator was at his frustrating best, adding six shots on net, two hits, one blocked shot, and a plus-2 rating to his ledger. While Wednesday's tallies were his first of the playoffs, Marchand has erupted for six points in three games as the Bruins have taken a 2-1 lead in the series. He'll look to stay hot Saturday in Game 4. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:19 am

    • Scores twice in overtime win
Kempe scored two goals on seven shots, went plus-3 and added three hits in Wednesday's 5-4 overtime win over the Oilers in Game 2.

Advice: Kempe's pair of goals came in the first period. The 27-year-old has picked up three straight multi-point efforts, earning four goals and two assists in that span. He's added 12 shots on net and seven hits through two playoff outings. Kempe remains locked in to a top-line role with ice time in all situations, so he should continue to be productive in a first-round series that's showed little patience for defense. • Nets lone goal on power play
Robertson scored a power-play goal on two shots, added two hits and blocked two shots in Wednesday's 3-1 loss to the Golden Knights in Game 2.

Advice: Robertson's tally opened the scoring in the first period, but he was the only Star to solve Logan Thompson. The 24-year-old Robertson has four goals and an assist over his last six games, including two goals through two playoff outings. He continues to play on the top line and first power-play unit, and the Stars will need him at his best in order to have a chance to crawl out of their 2-0 series hole. • Two points including OT winner
Verhaeghe scored the overtime winner and added an assist in Game 2 during a 3-2 victory over the Lightning on Tuesday.

Advice: After helping to set up Sam Bennett (upper body) for the night's opening tally early in the first period, Verhaeghe played hero for the Panthers once again. The 28-year-old has begun Florida's postseason run with two goals and three points in two games, and he'll look to stay hot on the road Thursday in Game 3. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 8:46 am

    • In goal Wednesday
Samsonov will be between the pipes at home for Game 3 against the Bruins on Wednesday, Mark Masters of TSN reports.

Advice: Samsonov was much better in Game 2 after a poor Game 1 showing, stopping 27 of 29 shots (.931 save percentage) in a winning effort versus Boston. Barring any sort of injury concern, there is little reason to suspect that Samsonov won't remain the preferred option in the crease for as long as the Leafs remain in the postseason. • Hangs on for Game 2 win
Shesterkin stopped 22 shots Tuesday during a 4-3 win over the Capitals in Game 2 of the Rangers' first-round series Tuesday.

Advice: The Caps only beat Shesterkin at even strength once on the night, as their last two tallies came on power plays. The 28-year-old netminder has allowed four goals on 46 shots to help the Rangers build a 2-0 series lead, and dating back to late March he hasn't given up more than three goals in any of his last nine starts, posting a 2.09 GAA and .921 save percentage over that stretch. Shesterkin will look to stay locked in as the series shifts to Washington for Game 3 on Friday. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 8:10 am

    • Picks up assist in Game 2 win
Toews logged an assist, three hits, two blocked shots and a plus-3 rating in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Avalanche in Game 2.

Advice: Toews is on an 11-game goal drought, but he's managed six helpers in that span. The 30-year-old defenseman reached the 50-point mark for the third year in a row in the regular season, adding 159 shots on net, 74 hits, 110 blocked shots and a plus-28 rating over 82 appearances. Toews remains in a top-pairing role, and while he won't put up Cale Makar-like numbers on offense, he's still a solid part of the Avalanche's depth scoring. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 10:30 pm
    • Slated to start Game 2
Shesterkin is expected to guard the crease for Tuesday's Game 2 home matchup with Washington, Vince Z. Mercogliano of USA Today reports.

Advice: Shesterkin is riding a three-game winning streak during which he has posted a 0.98 GAA, .963 save percentage and one shutout. While Jonathan Quick has been a capable backup this year, securing 18 wins in 27 appearances, the 28-year-old Shesterkin should remain firmly cemented in the starting role throughout the postseason.
