    • Re-ups with two-year deal
Valimaki signed a two-year contract with Utah on Saturday.

Advice: Per PuckPedia, the deal carries a $2 million cap hit. Valimaki took a step back on offense last season with 17 points over 68 contests, a year removed from a 34-point campaign. Part of the decrease can be explained by a reduced power-play role. Valimaki also improved from minus-10 in 2022-23 to plus-12 in 2023-24, showing improved defense. The 25-year-old is likely to fill a bottom-four role for Utah. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:07 pm
    • Negotiating rights dealt
Tanev's (ankle) negotiating rights were acquired by the Maple Leafs from the Stars on Saturday in exchange for Max Ellis and a 2026 seventh-round pick.

Advice: Tanev is set to become an unrestricted free agent Monday, but this will give Toronto an exclusive window to negotiate a contract with him before that date. The 34-year-old defenseman is coming off a four-year, $18 million contract. He had two goals, 19 points, a plus-22 rating, 24 PIM, 45 hits and 207 blocked shots in 75 regular-season outings between Calgary and Dallas while averaging 19:41 of ice time in 2023-24. He was also leaned on heavily during the Stars' 2024 playoff run, averaging 22:17 while recording two assists, a plus-7 rating, six PIM, 30 hits and 73 blocks across 19 contests. The blueliner is recovering from a tendon injury, but he didn't miss any time during the postseason and will likely be fine for the start of the 2024-25 campaign. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:55 pm
    • Traded to Utah
Marino and the No. 153 overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft were acquired by Utah on Saturday from New Jersey in exchange for the No. 49 overall selection in 2024 and a 2025 second-round choice.

Advice: Marino produced four goals, 25 points and 89 blocked shots in 75 games during the 2023-4 campaign. He is coming off a down season, but has had previous success while seeing tough minutes. Marino could be a bounce-back candidate in Utah. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:21 am
    • Placed on unconditional waivers
The Sharks placed Knyzhov on unconditional waivers for the purpose of buying out his contract Saturday, Chris Johnston of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Kynzhov has one year remaining on a two-year contract. The Sharks will save $933,333 this season and add $466,667 to their 2025-26 salary cap. Kynzhov managed only one assist in 10 regular-season appearances for the Sharks in 2023-24 as well as three goals and 14 points in 40 games with AHL San Jose. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:10 am
    • Traded to Tampa Bay
Tampa Bay obtained Moser, Conor Geekie, a 2025 second-round pick and a 2024 seventh-round selection from Utah on Saturday in exchange for Mikhail Sergachev.

Advice: Moser registered five goals, 26 points, 112 blocked shots and 99 hits in 80 games during the 2023-24 campaign. He should be able to flourish in a depth role with veteran defenders like Victor Hedman and Ryan McDonagh. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:59 am
    • Traded to Utah
Utah acquired Sergachev from Tampa Bay on Saturday in exchange for Conor Geekie, J.J. Moser, a 2025 second-round pick and a 2024 seventh-round selection.

Advice: No salary was retained by the Lightning in the deal, meaning Utah will absorb Sergachev's $8.5 million cap hit through the 2030-31 season. The defender is coming off an injury-riddled year but showed his elite value with a dominant 64-point campaign in 2022-23. Sergachev immediately assumes number-one status in Utah and will run the team's power play. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:54 am

    • Signs two-year deal
Kesselring signed a two-year, $2.8 million contract with Utah HC on Friday, per Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff.

Advice: Kesselring was set to become a restricted free agent with arbitration rights Monday after completing his entry-level contract. The 24-year-old defenseman had five goals, 21 points, 66 PIM, 106 hits and 59 blocks in 65 regular-season outings with the Coyotes in 2023-24. Although he averaged a modest 15:48 of ice time last season, that climbed to 18:09 over his final 26 contests, and that increased role is likely to be reflective of how he's utilized in 2024-25. • Inks two-year agreement
Dineen signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Oilers on Friday.

Advice: Dineen had five goals and 25 points in 58 regular-season contests with AHL Bakersfield in 2023-24. The 26-year-old blueliner is likely to spend the vast majority of his new contract in the minors, but he might be summoned to Edmonton at some point if the Oilers run into significant injury problems.
